Chromes Disease

R18 Anniversary Edition
BMW has always manufactured more black models than any other color. But I have chromes disease. Is it vain to want shiny parts on the bike? My current R18 anniversary edition is a splendid bike but my first in 50 years to have black forks.
It's pathetic......I need to have chrome heads, engine cover, protection bars, calipers, tank side paint, oil cooler cover, exhaust, etc. Every doo dad needs to be chrome. It's a disease.
 
I was always looking at buying an all BLACK HD Street Glide ST, I wasn't really a chrome guy; now, I love the chrome on my R18 B First Edition... The CHROME is growing on me..
 
For those of you who don't prefer chrome, do you like the looks of that dark gray Rocktane? As far as I can tell, the Rocktane only comes in that one color.

Leave the bike alone!!! Join a 12 step program and just ride the damn thing!!!

Funny thing is I dont like everything black, needs a few items chrome (only few) just a bit of contrast. I am surprised that I like the all black wheels on the R18. But yes I love the look of the Roctane, all black bikes would not be my preference but they look nice.
 
I once was a Magpie, fecking loved all chrome parts. I had a black SVX 650 classic 20 years ago and she was black, chrome everywhere and black wall tyres. These days I do like a bit of chrome here and there but not excessively.
 
Me? I'd happily lose the chrome, I love all black. I got rid of a factory blacked out H-D as the English climate was turning it to dust with being used 10 months of the year. I would love my TC in black or even black chrome (well actually I want a B and the trunk is coming off very soon).

You're moving your TC towards a Model B...

My Model B has moved towards a TC...

Will meet in the middle once you remove the rear storage case.

I always liked the wind management and auxiliary lights of the TC; however, I didn't like the chrome handlebars, gun metal grey color of the dash, wheels, engine cover color and the front forks of the TC... I loved the black lacquer look of the Model B's dash and handlebars, etc...

IMG_4215.jpegGenerally I thought there was just too much for me. But don’t want it all gone. I have posted these before. I liked to mix in something with the chrome.

I think I am going to have Rich’s Custom seats build me a leather seat with black and copper stitching or brown leather accents.

31 flavors. No right or wrong.

When I bought my TC, I searched nationwide for one with a black engine cover. I wish the TC's forks, bars, and cockpit came in black similar to the Bagger. Although the chrome grows on me, I feel obligated to keep it shiny. I prefer to spend more time riding and less polishing.
 
I spent 3 hrs cleaning mine the other day and the long haired General was going nuts asking why I had gotten a machine that needed so much care. I pointed out that her NC750S if washed properly (that I wash for her every time!) takes 2 hrs and that has no chrome. She soon stopped moaning then.
