Not sure that YSS Suspensions is a Japanese company but perhaps the Japanese company has proprietary rights to this shock at this time. YSS is made in Thailand and I thought that's where the company is located. I have used YSS shocks on a couple of my Rocket 3 Roadsters and find them to be a very cost effective alternative to some of the more well known and pricier brands. I would definitely consider their suspension products.
 
Ted Porter's Beemer Shop finally has a few shock options listed. I've heard others are also getting more options ready. I'm going to wait another month or so and see what may be available with the extra length that matches the touring models. I think the turn in may improve a little bit, but the extra travel would be the most anticipated benefit.
