2023 R18 100 year anniversary edition
Thinking of buying the Brentune for my 23 Anniversary model. Anyone install it and have any feedback? Is it worth the trouble?
Thanks,
RK

The trouble is far less than the cost. It’s easy to put on the bike, but man it’s expensive!

It’s not a night and day difference but smooths out the throttle, evens out the dead spot, and makes the bike overall a bit more responsive. I’m a tinkerer and can’t leave things bone stock, so this was lovely for me.

It’s definitely noticeable, especially if you just put some miles on, tune, and get back on.

I wouldn’t sell plasma to get one, but if you have the means, I do think it makes a pleasant bike more pleasant.

Thanks, appreciate it. I always modify everything with a motor in it, it's like a disease I have....on this bike I've decided to leave the God Damn thing alone. I did replace the air filter with the one everyone was recommending and the only other thing I was considering was the re map. I'm not doing anything else. I ride the bike in Rock mode, have zero interest in top speed, my only interest is torque, 0-60 although I'm not racing or riding the bike hard. If I can get a little better acceleration and yeah flatten out some flat spots I'm good with that.
What do you think?

There is a active list, for the BrenTune purchase. You would be the 15th person to sign up, and that would bring the price down some. Do a search for BrenTune and the link should pop up.

Randy, when I first got my R18 anniversary bike I told myself to leave it alone. The problem is I have that brain disease that says I have to modify most of it. So different rims, seat, exhaust, handlebars, everything. Cant help it.

Just looked it up, I don't see how I'd get a discount??

I feel like what you’re looking for here is what the Brentune will get you. Little quicker on the throttle, strong response, and it just feels like rock mode really rocks.

Thanks, I saw this. My concern is the installation. I'm not all that computer savvy.

On my B, it's under the left side panel.

Once you get the unit (if you do), you plug it in to the bike and follow BT's instructions to pull the stock map. You'll set up an account with BT and then upload that map. They'll mod that map and let you know when it's ready to download to the BT unit. Once you do that, you plug the BT back to the bike, follow the prompts, and 10 or so mins later you're done. You need a PC, as the BT unit's app doesn't work with a mac. It's mostly a painless process, and BT's instructions are pretty good.

Thanks. I'll get my computer guy to do it. I think they send a hand held device....that should have the map in it I would think.

It doesn't come with the map ready, you will send your bike's very own map which they will work on it and send you back to install in the device.

The map mod is specific to the stock map your bike is running. So they take that map and tweak it.

A bit of forewarning here - if you get dealer work done and they happen to update your ECU, BT will charge you $200 to mod to the updated map the dealer loaded. The previous mod will not load. Ask me how I know.

I have to say....it's starting to sound like a pain in the ass.....The last thing I need in my life is screwing around with this.....Hmmmm.

Yeah, I was bummed when I got my bike back from the headlight recall and realized I was gonna have to cough up $200 if I wanted my tune back.

If you get on that thread for the group buy, you’ll save a bit, but I could understand not wanting to dive in. The process isn’t terrible, really. The bike is certainly better with it, but at spicy cost.

Keep in mind the fix for the reverse recall will include a flash..... so probally better to get the recall done first.

😫
So you loose your map every update? I read the you should re install the original map before sending to dealer, than would be ok to install the tunning back. Now I'm lost

You and me both, bud. BT tells you to replace the OG tune anytime you go into the shop as you can get "locked out" if the shop overwrites the tune with a factory update. I expected to be able to reload the BT without issue. However, in my experience, I did reload the OG tune before going in and still had trouble. The shop loaded a new tune, and I found the BT tune would not load. Had to cough up $200 for a renewed tune.
