BMW Motorrad saddlebag right.

I got a new right side bmw saddlebag and mounting bracket at a good deal.
Part number. 2021 BMW R18 Saddle Bag Right 16L BMW 77402471304

It came with spacer bushes and I did not use them. Enough gap from the bike’s body. But, the long screw I tightened slightly came out the other side.

Is this ok? has anyone installed this same BMW OEM saddlebag without the spacer bushes or used them?

Morning Streetcup, you’ve answered your own question. Use the spacers, they are included in the kit for a reason! Look very carefully at the diagrammatic, the spacers 4 & 5 are different sizes, the fatter one goes to the rear mount, smaller to the front. The rear mudguard is ever so slightly tapered and it’s difficult to see to the naked eye, but it’s there. I have the same luggage on mine. That’s why the bolt seems too long, it isn’t, it all fits flush with the spacers in place and the the pannier sits ‘straight’ on the bike.

Thanks very much for the info. Helps a lot (this proves that I do not work on my bikes at all and take it to the dealer. Well, I did install the engine crash bar myself. spend so much time to get the right tools perfectly). I will add the spacers today. This weekend I will be riding a lot, heading to Elijay GA mountains, perhaps like 100 miles or more, Beautiful Saturday here in Atlanta, GA.

I have the same bike and decided to go for the 100 Years bags, they came with the same mounting brackets as you have. I put them on to see what they looked like, I never got any mounting diagram and thought: why are these spacers supplied? I also noticed the screws they supplied came through the inside of the guard about 4 mm or 1/4''. I was thinking the spacers might be for another model... then I came across the same diagram as you posted and decided the next time the brackets go on, i'll use the spacers!

Thanks for sharing. I just now fixed it and added the spacer bushes and it looks great. The bigger one goes to the rear side like Rufus pointed out. Thanks!!!

I did not know there was a 100 year edition bags. Nice. I just bought the right hand side bag with mounting brackets and paid total price $472. Which is a good discounted price.

I felt the 100 years bags were over priced TBH, especially since they had no way of locking, but I saved about £5.5K on the bike price so thought I'd spend a bit of that on matching 100Y bags!
Just looked at them on the Euro moto site and they come in at $1027.63 discounted to $930 for both side plus brackets, so maybe not so bad after all!
