R18 first edition
Hi...wondered if anyone else noticed a clunky lag on the bevel final drive, esp when cold. have raised the rear wheel and theres quite a lot of play there...is this normal? Thanks.

it’s called backlash and gears must have it to allow for expansion when everything gets warm and upto operating temperature. Even though it feels like ‘play’ there will be very specific factory tolerances setting it all up. I’ve had many shaft drive bikes over the years and they are all the same when cold. I park my R18 in the garage on a stand with rear wheel off the floor, if I spin the rear wheel it’s exactly the same. Don’t worry about it.
