Beautiful Day

I took a ride today - getting used to my new R18B - I rode up the Salinas Valley Foothills on River Road that meanders through the rolling hills covered in vineyards - I followed the Arroyo Seco Road up into the canyon and took a turn onto Carmel Valley Road. Carmel Valley Roads leads you to the Carmel Valley Village and from there up and over Los Laureles Grade and back to my home off of Highway 68 - In total a bit less that 100 miles. It was a beautiful day. I am really starting to feel comfortable with my bike and like it more every time I ride it.IMG_0112.jpeg
 
That sounds terrific, one of those ‘halo’ rides when everything is just ….. lovely……

How do you like the case?
 
I like it. Decent size - I can fit two helmets in it. It also pops off with a push of a button - I added the light kit with turn signals and top rack. I found a winged BMW emblem to replace the GIVI emblem. It looks factory.

I rode my 2022 R18B up through the Skagit Valley today. I have owned numerous BMW models—RT, K1600, etc. for me my R18 is the best bike I have owned. It is comfortable, nostalgic, and a fine tuned and made machine.

More people need to value and appreciate the R18.

How did you connect and make everything work? You said it automatically disconnects the lights when you remove the case? How?

GIVI makes a quick disconnect kit that is included in the lighting kit. It has an electrical receptacle that mounts into the bottom of the case and an electrical plug that fits into the GIVI case mounting plate. When you snap the case into position it plugs itself in. You have and electrical pigtail that mounts into the plug that runs under the seat where you connect your wiring. I installed a Hex EZ Can that interfaces to the bikes can bus that can be programmed simply to operate the tail light, brake light and turn signals on the case.

Hi again 😎 sorry I keep asking. Is there a number for HEX or do I order one for the BMW K 1600 that fits with the top box connector.

Rather recognisable, nostalgic too all those names as until surprisingly recently it was Spanish.

Over here in the south of Andalucía spring is hesitating and especially the mornings are effing ccccóld up here in the mountains.
