Battery Trickle Charger

I recently purchased a used 2021 R18 First Edition. Not knowing anything about BMW motorcycles was part of the allure. It's getting cold here and I wanted to put the bike on a battery charger. Originally, was going to go the standard SAE connection route to the battery terminals. Then I found this little connection. I found a SAE to DIN adapters for my battery charger. Can I use this port to charge the battery on my R18?
Suggestions and thoughts appreciated.

Yes you can, that is the one you should use, the cigarette lighter type. Plug the charger into the main first and it will read No Battery. After that plug the charger into the socket in the picture and let the charger do its thing.

I like the R18 but it is just so different from my Harley. I have ordered manuals for it but BMW dealer is telling me that they are probably 2 months away from delivery since they are coming from Germany.
New toys are such fun!
 
The R18 is a fine machine, just new to you but you will get used to it in no time. When you say Manuals, do you mean service manual? They do not exist officially as far as I am aware. The owners manual can be downloaded for free from the Motorrad website.

I have ordered both the owners manual and a service manual from BMW via my dealership. I haven't seen them yet as they have told me they are coming from Germany and will take a couple of months to arrive.
Hopefully, I haven't been bamboozled!

You can download the Owners manual from the BMW Motorrad site...?

We're all waiting for an official Service Manual...
