Battery in the DWA unit

Will the bike start if the DWA unit is disconnected?

Real American Football and Baseball are my fav's on TV. I loved playing futbol when I was a kid, but not watching.

The DWA unit is behind that mess of wires, just above the battery? What is that unit just above the mass of wires in the circle?

I am not sure what that is. But it can be disconnected . My DWA unit is still impossible to access as that mass of wires is so tightly wrapped together, leaving no room for movement. . There is also a plastic U shaped bracket that is screwed to the battery box encompassing the DWA unit. So it is secured in a box like set-up!
