2021 or 2022 Model

I am almost about the finalize my R18 Classic. My local dealer here in Illinois has both the 2021 and 2022 models available, although incentives are good on the 2021 model. Wanted to get a general opinion whether it is still ok to go for a 2021 model or should I prefer the 2022 model, especially given that year 2022 is half way done and very soon the 2023 models should be expected. Appreciate your inputs and suggestions.

It would greatly depend on the savings associated with the 2021 model and any difference in the accessories

I’ve just purchased an ex display R18 classic. It was registered on 31/12/2021 and sat on the heritage display stand until I bought it yesterday with a £4500 discount.

I notice on the 2022 models the chrome pack is now a £2100 option the finish looks cheaper with black brake callipers and satin finish on what was chrome.

I’m not aware of any other changes though.

Hum, the Classic already comes with cruise so no issues there. If it was a R18FE (well that means me thinks a 2021) vs R18 2022 then you would need to have them check the vin to see if cruise could be added to the 2021 (my understanding is it cannot on some of those early ones). Good to know about the break stain finish vs chrome.

I usually stay away from first year models, especially clean-sheet designs, with BMW. They usually Beta Test on us poor saps. That said, the 2021 R18 seems to be generally trouble free. If the savings are significant enough on the 2021, I would spring for that if it's optioned the way you want. Down the road, maybe the FE's will have some marginal additional value, who knows. These are toys, not investments anyway. Right?

Get the best deal possible negotiated and get out and ride. You'll be glad you did.
