A good friend of mine has a GS1250, he’s on his 4th now and has had them back to back for a good 20 years now. I don’t think you can compare them really, other than being the same brand. The GS is a world wide success for a reason, the R18 platform is much more niche. I could have bought a GS...
Does the bike ‘power on’ when you press the button? Do your indicators/horn work on LHS? Does the starter work at all? Surely it’s got to be a poor connection somewhere, it can’t really be anything else if that’s all you’ve touched.
I’ve only just put on a pair of genuine 100year anniversary BMW soft panniers, 16L each so not too bulky. They are really nice quality, very neat, a cinch to take on & off and look good on or off the bike (not always the case). They are slightly narrower than the engine so if you can get the...
Yep, happy hunting. The R18 will be very different to the T100 in feel, weight and general usability. Not the most practical of bikes but if you are keeping your GS then that’s covered!
What model bike do you have? I leave mine on RPM and it stays on that no matter whether I turn my bike on or off. Doesn’t sound right but if you have a B or TC model there may well be a lot more ‘tech’ to play with and maybe your settings are off? I think it’s fair to say a poor battery can and...
Yea thanks Anibal. For lots of reasons I’ve gone back down to one bike so my R18 hasn’t done that many miles since last service. I’ve decided this is a keeper and intend to do the routine stuff myself when it’s needed rather than just by time elapsed. This gadget (I believe) doesn’t need...
Stating the bleeding obvious really but because the bikes are so low and long it’s easy to ground the bike going up and over a ramp even when not sitting on it. Just be careful incase you get stuck with 345kg of bike and no free hands. The loading and unloading phase is always the most sketchy...
My annual service is due soon and the service icon will need clearing. Already aware of the GS-911 tool which is quite expensive but while looking online at prices a moment ago I came across this product that I’ve not seen before. Picture below.
It’s being sold by a very reputable independent...
Nice lift. 👍 My garage floor is concrete but it’s not smooth so I would not be able to roll the bike back & forth (easily anyway). I rely on scissor jacks and wheel chocks, bit of a faff but very do-able.
+1 if that’s true then that’s great news, tbh now that you mention it there don’t seem to be as many R18’s on the market (new or used) in the UK either.
Yep, welcome along. I stopped at a cafe for a bite to eat only yesterday, while I was inside the cafe I noticed a guy walk over to my bike and start looking at it. He was walking around it for a good minute or two, took a photo on his phone and then came in. After he ordered he came over to sit...
No manual seems to be the modern way of things. Bought a new TV about a month ago (the one we had was a good 20 years old). So it arrived in a big box, I unpack it, no manual, curious? Switch it on and ……well it’s working but no picture? Complicated looking remote control but 🤷♂️.
After quite...
Looking at this from another perspective. If the bike rides fine (in the rain) and in every other way but only has had this issue on one patch of road/tarmac or whatever it is it’s not the bike is it? It’s the road surface that must be exhibiting something unusual. By all means get your bike...
You’ll have to be more specific with exact circumstances. Cruising on a light throttle down a straight road at modest speed (approx 60mph) there is no reason for the bike to violently fishtail? The engine will hardly be spinning in 5th or especially 6th. They ride arrow straight and rock solid...
