    Optimate4 abuse

Since I bought the R18 new, I have left my Optimate 4 plugged in for 6 months and haven't had any problems. I live in Maine and put the bike up the beginning of November and take the bike out in late May when I return from Myrtle Beach. All my other bikes/ATVs have pigtails and are on Battery...

Turns off when put in gear

Sorry I can't help with you bike problem but I am in Myrtle Beach and the big MB Bike Week is May 10-19...

    Longer ride

The C-14 is a really good bike when it leaves the factory and is a GREAT bike with the proper tune. I really liked it but wanted a little more so I bought a Ninja ZX-14R the next year. Later that Summer I found out about a guy who specializes in C-10/C-14s and he does super tunes. I got the tune...

    Longer ride

It may seem odd to some folks (especially on the K1600 Forum) but for most rides under 200 miles I actually much prefer my R18 FE to my K1600 Grand America. After less than 100 miles on the R18 I ordered the Weekender seat and it is the first bike I EVER bought a new seat for because it was so...

Michelin commander III poor in wet ?

In that article I noticed to prolong the life of the Michelin Commander 3, he recommends "rotating the tires every 5-6,000 miles". Really??? WTH?!?

That's old news! The stop sale cleared a couple weeks ago and BMW dealers are free to sell new/used gas bikes once again...

Possible Switch From Indian Chief Vintage to 2022 BMW R18 B

I really never worry about resale value on any of my bikes, ATVs or snowmobiles since I'm not planning to sell any and my daughters will be the ones to deal with resale value... (y) :D

    English Anvil & Vice 👍

I've always been obsessive compulsive in some of the things I really enjoy like vintage hand tools and motorcycles amongst other hobbies. Finally ran out of space for motorcycles though...

    English Anvil & Vice 👍

    I'm also a sucker for old/vintage handtools. I am also exceptionally OCD...

    Putting away for winter

Also be sure to put it on a good battery tender... I do full tank (preferably non-ethanol and add Marine Stabil or Startron) plus battery tenders for all my bikes, ATVs and snowmobiles. I put the bikes/ATVs in unheated garage/shed storage the end of October and don't start them until mid-May...

2022 TC for sale, 1251 miles

Sucks that you have to let it go but unplanned life circumstances do change. That will be one hell of a deal for somebody but I'm at the point in my life that I need to stop buying bikes! I really like your tasteful and practical upgrades. You're definitely going to make somebody VERY HAPPY...

Tire with a screw in it. Slow Leak. Need advice!

A lot of shops won't plug a tire due to their insurance contract. I only had about 300 miles on a new rear Cobra Chrome ($$$) on my Rocket 3 and none of the area shops would touch it so I just plugged it myself and it's been good for the last 5500 miles and 3 state inspections...

    Moto Guzzi V7?

My Rocket 3 GT is currently essentially stock and has a smaller gas tank than my first generation Rocket 3 models which all have custom performance maps. On the GT I usually need to think about gas by the 120 mile mark which is probably in the low-30s mpg range depending on the ride. I tend to...

    Moto Guzzi V7?

If you ride a Rocket 3, you'll want to buy one. That's how I wound up with the 5 of them I currently have... The newest is a Rocket 3 GT and is a major upgrade to the first generation Rocket 3 models which were already incredible... (y) My Rocket 3 Touring is the only bike I have that isn't...

    Jocularity

Back in the late 60s/early 70s I had a few Triumph bikes as well as a MGB and TR4A IRS so I fully appreciate your posting above regarding Lucas Electrics. I remember a cartoon from back then with a guy waking up in his hospital bed after his operation and screaming "OMG, you installed a Lucas...

    Nelson-Rigg Route 1 Weekender Bag

Got that same Nelson-Rigg mounted on a Rocket 3 with RoadStyler backrest/rack. Looks really good and am very satisfied with it. It is not waterproof and comes with a cover. I mounted a very similar but a bit smaller Cortech tail bag on my R18FE with a RoadStyler backrest/rack. The Roadstlyer...

    Windscreen Tinting?

I totally agree on higher windscreens/law enforcement and wasn't specifically recommending that. I caveated my statement by saying I haven't sat on a R18 with a windscreen and wasn't sure how you view the road with a R18 OEM windscreen. I only have Plasti-Dip windscreens on my sport bikes and...
