You will get a key in addition to the fob that can operate the bike if the fob is lost or damaged. There is a spot under the seat where it can be used. There is a thread or three here on it. Sadly, you only get one fob and a second one is over $300.

They are for the base model R18. I believe the Bagger and Transcontinental use a different mounting bracket.

I looked at mine today and I have the same thing in the same place, but the kickstand side. A single drip, not enough to be a concern, but I cleaned it and will be keeping an eye on it.

Longevity is one reason- I rarely get more than 3 years out of conventional batteries and the Lithium battery I put in my V-Rod was still working after 8 years when I sold it. More cost up front but if you are going to keep a bike long term it saves hassle down the road.

My frustration is that for a 4 gallon tank I'm having to stop more often than I expected to fill up. The people I ride with mostly go 150 - 160 miles between fill ups and my gas light comes on way before that. It's like I'm the chump rolling on a Sportster that has to get gas every 100 miles...

My mileage is also around there (39mpg) after the Brentune flash and I almost never use sport mode or grab much throttle. I have fast bikes for riding fast and I use my R18 for leisurely rides, so my mileage is disappointing. It's 5 mpg below what I averaged on a Harley with a similar engine size.
