.... a naturally aspirated engine always 'sucks' ... If you want to change that you will have to go Turbo or Super Charger ... but thats maybe just me ;)

Judging by the first pick, I would say transmission breather (I have a hard time figuring out where I am at in the second) ... a little too much oil in the gearbox and/or the oil 'foamed' a bit and it drooled out through the transmission breather. I had replaced mine ... the part is not very...

So these are not OEM? ... I didn't realize that there are already aftermarket drive train parts out there ... Curious when you get into it ... I always just under filled mine a little bit and have had no issues with mine ... same as I did on my 'C' model ...

Just to put in my 2¢ ... I ripped the BMW filter out on my first oil change 5 years ago and replaced it with a K&N KN-164 and I can not tell any ill effects. The K&N has a hex for a wrench and comes off soooooo easy! As for the filling side I found (something like) this: Both work quite well...

Howdy ... time for another Shade Tree fix it job ... this time the battery. So my battery is now 5 years old (20 000) miles and is getting noticeably soggy ... when it is cold out she barely starts, so time for a new one. I am really not much a fan of Lithium and such batteries ... I stick with...

... was thinking about that ... but IMO too many painted parts around that to use a torch ... and I don't think a heat gun would be that effective with that much metal around the bolt ... Thanks!

Interesting point ... hmmm ... in that case I am will to argue that the air rushing along side the engine (and we definitely have that) will take air from inside the cavity with it ... I forgot the name of that aerodynamic effect (I think it might be Bernoulli's principle or something like that)...

Hmmm ... I was thinking ... and that is usually where the problem starts :LOL: ... I have read quite a few threads on 'Removing the snorkels' and/or an open frame breather insert ... but ... here is my thought ... I agree that when standing still the 'snorkels' may restrict some air flow ...

Wow ... what are the odds!!! ... but I am glad that it is a warranty case ... weather sucks at the moment anyway ;)

Agreed on that BMW Threadlocker ... PITA for sure ... and even hard to get rid off with a wirewheel!!!

It probably can be done ... but I would not recommend it ... although the engine is supported on the top, you will have to 'split' the frame and then everything would be leaning to the side when you put it back together ... nahhh bad idea IMO ... but a wheel chock is cheap and can also come in...
