    ECU Location

Did anyone else practically disassemble their whole bike looking for the connector before seeing it tucked behind the frame tube? I spent 30 minutes disconnecting stuff, including pulling the ECU, looking for that stupid OBD connector.

    Roland Sands fuel cap install

Those snap ring pliers will come in handy in your garage in the future, I bet. Having to buy tools for a job sucks, but having tools on hand to do a job is awesome.

NO the customer is not always wrong LMC

Man, this is just another use case for crypto currency. Near instant transfer of funds, no such thing as a charge back and the fees are way lower than credit cards, wire transfers, any of the cash apps or Square or whatever. Once we have widespread adoption, issues like this and the other...

    Cost of first service

My dealer quoted $400 for the first service at 600 miles. Normally I do all my own service except mounting tires, but I've seen a few bikes where the dealers discovered problems at first service and got them sorted, so I'm probably going to do it. My GS I've only had to the dealer once, when...

Yes please. I think the forums are great as is, but a dark mode would be great.

    Customs R18

Terrible video, but fun paint job on a R18 bagger.

    SPARK PLUGS w/12Nm Torque Spec.

Interesting. They look darker than the plugs I pulled out of my 1200 GS after 25k miles. And the long, thin 14mm is a BMW thing, it's annoying.

    Pricing: BMW v. Harley

Harley and Indian prices are silly right now. Here are some examples from one of my local Harley dealers. 2022 Road King. MSRP = 19,929, plus $825 for two tone grey/black paint. On the tag, add to that: Freight: $650 Surcharge: $800 Dealer Setup: $1159 Total Price: $24,388 After fees...

Leg Rest ( AKA Highway pegs)

It's the same everywhere- Ford released the Bronco without only about 10% of the advertised parts available. Guys who need Harley parts are waiting 6-9 months to get very simple things. My buddy had a barrel on order with CMMG and it's been backordered for over a year. BMW isn't the only...

    Speedometer error?

Yeah, it definitely reads fast. I haven't brought along my GPS to see exactly how fast, but it seems to be a fair bit at highway speeds. My GS is the same way.

    R18 ride and weight question

I'm 5'9" and 175 and I own both a Triumph Speed Twin (a bit taller and a bit lighter than the Street Twin) and an R18 and the bikes are very different. The R18 is a lot heavier and you have to pay attention on your inputs at slow speeds. The steering is a lot more deliberate than the Triumph...

Any RED R18's out there yet?

My local dealer got a red bike in today, grabbed a couple pics. It's a good looking red, darker than I expected from photos.

BT Moto ECU Flash Group Buy and Discount!

Got my box in the mail. Sadly, I don't have that first service flash done yet since I got my bike in mid-Oct and then promptly broke my foot, so the install will have to wait a few weeks.

What did you do to your R18 today?

Or you can get some heat reflective material if you have an issue with bags getting too hot. I had a problem with one of the cases on my GS getting overly hot on long trips from the exhaust, I put on a layer of self adhesive heat reflective fabric and it did a great job, and it's held up for 6...

    Customs R18

BMW had it's best ever sales volume in 2021, it just wasn't R18's. https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/global/article/detail/T0364578EN/in-2021-bmw-motorrad-achieves-the-best-sales-result-in-its-history-with-an-increase-of-14-8-percent?language=en They were up 14% year over year, and 2020 was their...

    Customs R18

The fact that dealers are stacked deep with new R18's and selling them with incentives and discounts in a market where Harley and Indian dealerships are empty and taking deposits on future inventory at $2k over msrp speaks to not meeting expected sales volume. One thing the R18 has over the...

New oil cooler cover from Wunderlich

Thanks. I know that is going to be a high wear area of the bike and would need touch ups, so may as well DIY so it's easy to DIY the rock chips once a year or so. Anything put there is going to get beat up as miles are put on unless a new fender that sits lower is installed.

    r 18 classic riders backrest

Wunderlich just announced they will be making a rider's backrest that folds down to be a passenger seat. Not terrible affordable, but an option. https://www.wunderlichamerica.com/BMW_R18_Rider_Foldable_Backrest

BT Moto ECU Flash Group Buy and Discount!

Sign me up. It sounds like it is worth it. When is the close date on this? I'm not in a hurry if we want to try to get 20 or give other people a chance to sign up. Mostly riding the GS until there is a good rain to wash all the salt residue off the roads.

What did you do to your R18 today?

Put the BMW engine guard on. My sweetie plans to ride this one and at only 5' she is worried about a drop as she gets used to it. Fits well with the bike. It was also a very easy install, nice when everything lines up. It is sad that that is rare with manufacturer parts anymore.
