depending on your gloves it should be TOO hot. As I observed the only hard check is the current drawn.

Temp specs would be difficult and most likely just Wattage. Should be sómewhere in the electric section of the repair manual. 3 is for polar circumstances and thus thick gloves. The latter insulate; also from the heated grips.

The original plastic oil cooler cover is a bit of a cheap eyesore screaming to be replaced. Not sure about black or chrome on my ´base´ model.
