I'm backtracking on my previous comment but rethinking that the 'system' information like Date, time, service data, and other accessories are pulled from the Grey/Purple wire as the other instruments don't use this info and is displayed on the headunit on the K35. My theory here is the Grey/Purple is also a CAN/LIN BUS network, but for other data not related to engine data (such as heated grips, signal light, aux commands, neutral switch, etc).

It’s been 84 years since I started this journey but it’s finally done. I have a working factory tachometer and it how it should’ve come from BMW.

I’ll create a new post with part numbers and pictures of this journey.
