What did you do to your R18 today?

Ive been eyeing different badges for my '22 Classic.

I love the brass (copper?) First Edition badges that come in the First Edition welcome package....but because I purchased a 2022 it was never offered. I also think the brass badges would look a little out of place on with the Mars Red (no stripes) paint. Not to mention I've seen the second hand market prices ranging from $100-750 USD.

I've been considering a few different custom badges I've seen about the interwebs but none of those really piqued my interest.

I genuinely love the vintage style badging. I have been watching a seller (a BMW Bike dealer) offloading a bunch of 100 Years welcome boxes on ebay for $100...and I finally caved.

So yeah....if anyone out there is interested in a 100 Years welcome kit, I think there are a couple left.

It seems that you can upload video files thru the "Attach files" button in the bottom-left corner of the message box. However, it doesn't seem to accept videos/ I tried an mp4 video but no matter the size, I get the message "The file is too large to be uploaded."

Came back from a ride and gave the bike a quick wash. I noticed the rear brake pads looked worn, so pulled of the caliper and had a look.

Now a rear brake expert. Pads are ok.... only done 6,000ks.... they have a big bevel that can miss-lead a novice like me.

Anyway, also bought a E torx set of ring spanners ($40) to access the bottom caliper bolt without taking the fishy exhaust off.... a 11mm ring spanner did the job this time... but sub optimal long term (I only had e torx sockets from my bad boy BMW 335i modding days... got 500hp out of that).

So now the R18 is washed i can't take the dirt road short cut I do on some local rides for a few weeks.

The fishtail mufflers are probably the simplest to remove I’ve come across.
Loosen the clamp, squirt a little WD-40 on the rubber insulators and pull it right off.

Dawned new riding gear and braved the elements. 20° F at 5:30am...but the new pants and jacket worked well. The 100 years box arrived today while I was at work. Tossed them on as soon as I got home. Don't have much use for the belt, definitely going to rock the hat, and I'm pretty sure that massive book could stop small arms fire.

After I got the emblems on, I hooked up and tested the OBDLink and Motoscan app to make sure everything was communicating properly. DNA filter and bracket will be here tomorrow. 6k is only a few hundred miles off. Valve check, transmission oil change, and engine oil are on the horizon. Might just get the 6k service done a few miles early.
