WalzWerks Bobber Kit, finally

The other day I rode a solid 200 miles on the new saddle. One break. Lots of fantastic twisties up here on the coast of Oregon. Beautiful smooth road and a nice, albeit chilly, day. Man, I do enjoy this bike...
There's about 2 inches of play In the positioning of the saddle. I have it set as far forward as possible. This is actually not how I imagined things (figured it would be set as far back as it could go) but being comfortable with the handlebars necessitated the more forward position. I'm a long-armed, long-torso, relatively shorter (32") inseam, 6'1", for reference.
Well, that said, I'm happy to report that it's comfortable enough for the type of riding which I enjoy: 70-100 miles. Stop to whiz. 70-100 miles. Stop for a coke. 70-100 miles. Stop for lunch. Etc. It's heads and shoulders better than the oem saddle. As I recall, I HAD to stop about every 60-70 miles because my arse was distractingly sore and I had numbness in the inner thighs too. Simultaneously numb and in pain 😬. But it's probably 10% worse than the Fastback saddle I used for awhile. The difference isn't so much in the padding, but in the feeling of support. The bobber saddle is a flat little bugger. Doesn't, shall we say, cradle, the behind very much.
The seat drops the ride height probably 1.5-2 inches. This could be a concern for folks taller, or longer legged, than myself. It's right at the extreme for me. My thighs went from parallel with the ground to angled slightly skyward. It's not uncomfortable but it's also not likely sustainable for 100's of miles.

Now I need to work on the electronic error thing on the dash. Gr8adv! How'd you get yours to not show that error??

Hi, where did you get these beautiful black cylinder covers from?

did you get this with the 16 " rim fender kit? I was going to get this kit but I want to do a wider tire. So was thinking of the bigger fender from the 18in rim kit. Does anyone know if we can fit a 200 rear tire on the stock rim?

Nope. The 18” upgrade by BMW is 5.5 and that will work. WALZWERK uses a 6 which would be ideal.

Well, everything is installed and pretty much buttoned-down. Here she is:

Pending issues are: 1) electrical error message on dash. We'll get that sorted somehow. 2) Need a bobber-friendly mirror plan. I have a pair of Motogadget m.view mirrors I could use. Still working on it. 3) the tool box needs painting and, as luck would have it, my painter is under house arrest. I didn't ask and I don't want to know. We're on standby for paint.

/sorry about the crap photos, it's been kinda chilly lately🥶
Great job, thanks for sharing the picture. I bought the same kit. Very poor instruction... ;-( My issue is to get the proper electrical connection. Match all the colours, but now my tail/brake light are amber/yellow... ;-( Any instruction on how you paired your wires? Thanks.

Thank you very much TodkaVonic. Support from WalzWerk isn't impressive...
Just to be sure, the black and red from the wiring harness are just left by themselves, or are they connected together?
I will post a picture as soon as I'm finished with the upgrade!
Thanks again.

Hi @TodkaVonic. Did you ever figure out how to get ride of the electronic message error? Is it by connection the remaining Red and Black cables together? Thanks.

Glad it worked! The red and black wires terminating in the thing that looks like a nipple in my drawing are the wires to the license plate light. Hook those to the white and black wires from your light. Regarding the error light on the dash, short answer is yes, it'll go off on its own after riding for a few feet. I don't know how to fix it so that it never appears upon starting. I experimented with dozens of combinations of various resistors but could never get it to go away. Of course, WalzWerks is no help. Enjoy the look and try not to dwell on the transient error alert.

Thanks, @TodkaVonic, for all your help. The only answer I got from WalzWerks was, "Go to your local BMW dealer." We've sold hundreds with no complaints/errors. My local BMW dealer answered, "You should have bought original parts and accessories from us."... LOL Anyway, won't be bothered by it. ENjoy the ride!

Now now, different strokes, eye of the beholder, etc.

Anyhow, License plate installation option. I jacked up the frame until the rear wheel was off the ground to confirm that the muffler and plate didn't collide. There's about a quarter inch. I would've preferred it oriented vertically but it's just too close.

Did you say this plate conversion came with the Walzwerk bobber kit? I'm on their site but can only see the Euro plate option. Do you have a link to the kit you initially bought? I like your setup. Is that how it came out of box or did you have to add the US plate brkt? Also the licence lamp in the upper right hole. Nice touch.

I really like how tight the plate is to the frame and against the wheel. Clean. I almost order the Wunderlich one but it sticks way out almost behind the tire. Not a fan now that I've seen this. A link would be much appreciated. Thanks for the inspiration!

Sorry if someone already asked this but what size tire are you running in the rear with that Walzwerk fender? That appears bigger than stock 180 or does the conversion just make it appear that way?

Looking at the electrical error code that you are getting; I'm guessing you replaced the stock tail light and directionals? If so, can you measure the resistance of the stock lights with an Ohm meter; compare the stock resistance with the resistance of the lights provided as part of the kit?

The ECU is probably measuring current draw (Amps) in order to determine if a bulb has failed; this is pretty common when upgrading from incandescent bulbs to LED type bulbs. LED draw much less current, than a traditional incandescent bulb; where the computer thinks it's an OPEN circuit or a blow out bulb.
