So I spoke with my local dealer today and was told that it is very likely the new Commander II tires. He said the mileage from them being put on is consistent with the typical distance for these to scrub in and that he has seen this in other boxers. I don't know if its the new tires or...
So I've had my bike out of winter storage for a couple of months now. When I took it out of winter storage it was the same R18B it was when I put it away for the winter. The OEM Bridgestones were pretty well shot, so I recently had a fresh set of Commander II's installed. My initial...
I just replaced the battery about two months ago. I thought about going with a lithium battery, but didn't want to have the additional fire risk. I will say, the starting issues began before I replaced the battery and continued after. The times that it wouldn't start were never from the...
I thought I'd provide an update on my experience with this issue. Obviously this is not scientific, but since I posted this and read the first few replies, I've started shutting off my bike with the red kill button and then powering down everything with the black power button.
Anyways, the...
Thank you everyone for the input. I appreciate all the suggestions. On every bike I've ever owned, I've always used the key to shut the bike off. I always did this so I didn't kill the motor and then forget to remove the key and walk away with the keys in the ignition. The R18 is my first...
Lately, my bike (2022 bagger) will crank but not start occasionally. It so far has always started immediately on the second attempt. I've never had any issues with the bike except for recently having to replace the battery. Any suggestions are appreciated.
PB Blaster, Liquid Wrench, etc, none of those will break loctite loose. There's not enough contact once its in the threads. This is especially true of the red variety. Heat above 550 degrees F is typically what it takes to start to breakdown the red stuff. Blue loctite can be broken with...
I would typically look for the most efficient way as well. As it was, I think I may have invented some new curse words. The icing on the cake, is that the grinder got into a couple of the flat areas on the supports. Now I get to strip them back down to bare metal, add some body filler, sand it...
I definitely could have gotten the brackets off without completely removing the bags, but I didn't want to work in a tight space and risk hitting a painted surface with a tool. I was already a bit frustrated since at the point I removed the bags, I already knew about the loctite.
So today I decided to install the luggage rack that came with my bike. I bought my R18 used and it already had the Road Styler backrest installed. It had the luggage rack, but it was uninstalled. I'm thinking this is maybe a 15 minute exercise, after all, its only four bolts in and out. Or...
Unless they changed the motor or the gear ratio, the reverse speed should be the same. The motor engagement could be slower or faster depending on the propagation delay inherent in the design of the new circuit.
If you're not sold on the look, I don't think you'll find any benefit in function. If anything, the RSD levers are more of a hassle to adjust than the stock units. That said, I did the initial adjustment and will likely never have to do another unless something changes in the master cylinder.
I would use a multi-meter to check for voltage at the socket. A few fundamentals, if you know them, great, but I'll say them since not everyone does.
When you turn on the meter, set the meter to Ohms (resistance) and short the leads together. You should see 0 ohms or something close such as...
