What did you do to your R18 today?

Gorgeous day here in Ole England. Went for a ride about, called in at a Honda dealer in the city centre, for a leg stretch and nosey about. Not been into a dealer for a good while. Lots of nice bikes in there, Fireblades, Africa Twins, Goldwings etc. My red R18 was outside and as I walked back to it, it just looked so different, alien even.

Sunshine was glinting off all the chrome, the metallic paint was vibrant, very long, very low, very wide, very heavy with an overly huge engine. You can see why it’s so non mainstream. There’s nothing out there like it really. Very unique.

It coped with city traffic extremely well, easy, got back out onto the main roads, nice ride 👍

Early Fathers Day gift... The wife and I stopped at our local HD dealership to pickup a 10 Quart (9+ L) low profile oil catch pan.

A great little addition for anyone who wrenches on their bike, doing their own maintenance; not super expensive, high quality, well thought-out (oil filter drain, vent hole, quality cap seals) and easily capable of catching an oil change, transmission fluid change and rear-wheel bevel gear fluid all in one service interval.

Plus... A great excuse to go look at motorcycles..

While visiting my brother in Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN this week, I stopped by Leo's South Dealership, and I unexpectedly ended up trading my 2023 R18 Pure for a very slightly used 2024 Moto Guzzi Stelvio, which is more suitable to my 70 yr. old bones/framework, and then rode it back to Texas. I'm keeping my 2021 R9T, and I'll be staying with this great forum. I'm going to try and sell some of the many aftermarket parts and accessories for the R18 in the classified section (hopefully to someone local or at least in the USA to avoid high shipping costs), so please be on the lookout for something you might need or want at a good, bargain price - BMW waxed cotton saddlebags, Wunderlich Cockpit Fairing (color-matched Manhattan Matte Metallic w/ Black Pinstripes), OEM seats, OEM footpegs, Horning Lift, Hex EZcan controller, etc. This forum has been such a great resource while I was sorting out my R18, so thanks to all. I'll stick around and check-in on occasion. Best!

So Just picked the beast up from an annual service and completed the 10,000 KM service.
Valve check. All in tolerance.
Also changed out the front and rear tires for Metzler Cruisetec at the recommendation of the service center. I did not use BMW but rather a local all brand workshop recommended by the local vintage BMW mechanic. He would not do the R18 as too modern!
The completed the full service according to the BMW manual and even updated it in the BMW database so all done.
I just don't have the skills or the facilities to do it all myself. And whilst it may cost a bit more with the complexity of the work I would rather leave it in the hands of those more skilled than myself.
 
Red64, good on ya finding an independent mechanic for the beast. I like the relationship and care many of these shops provide.
Also, extra points for using "whilst"!
 
Happy Father's Day to all R18 dads ...!!

This morning, I programmed my front directional lights as "Cruise Lights" via the GS-911; I used 25 as the Daytime intensity and 10 as the Nighttime intensity values..

I'm going to give it a few weeks before I decide to stick with it or switch it back to stock..

that keeps them "on" at all times?
