Noise at 2200 rpm

I have a vibration type noise at around 2200 rpm and can’t pinpoint where it’s coming from. It’s like two pieces of metal rattling together. Do the valve things in the exhaust come loose? The valves are fine and I can tell the noise isn’t coming from either head. Bike runs fine but sometimes idles rough. Has 26k miles and I have owned it for 4 months. Help. Love the bike but the noise is annoying as hell.

Which model do you have? Might help to figure this out. I know that, on the TC at least, the front fender can vibrate and make noise at certain speeds/RPMs.

What kind of front tire do you have. There have been quite a few issues with front Michelin Commander III tires causing vibration. Michelin is replacing these tires for those that have problems.

Update, I swapped the front fender to a classic fender. Road noise is gone, but the brakes still squeak.
I've just been ignoring the squeak.

110% road noise is from the fender. I rented a R18TC recently in Miami, and forgot what that god awful noise was lol I was like damn they beat this rental bike up... nope it was road noise from the fender lol

Thats crazy... I took my fender off and lined the inside of it to eliminate any acoustic issues, like sound proofing... Didn't stop the noise... Drives me crazy 5k miles + and it wont go away.

Reviving this old thread as I am experiencing the same road noise. It is worse on some surfaces and silent on others and is very tricky to track down - very distracting.
If I knock on the front fender with my knuckle, there is a definite resonance which sounds a bit like the noise that I hear when on the move.
I notice that some of you have put rubber washers on the fender mounts but I don't think this will make any difference unless you isolate the fender completely by drilling out the fender mounting holes to accept 'proper' isolators like these.........

Not front wheel you can make the noise sitting still and reving the motor

Ah, didn't know that. I'm stumped. My TC at 11k miles doesn't have this issue. Hopefully someone on here has some ideas.

Maybe, try making a sound clip or video and post it here. We may be able to identify the noise.

Given you are not the original owner, I'd check that exhaust flapper control cables are still connected and rotating the flappers..... in case someone left them in place but not connected.... the lead bits on the cable ends can rattle/buzz.
