Faulty headlight.

Well folks, my R18B has been nothing but pleasure since I bought it on March 2023, however, tonight my headlight failed as I was leaving work therefore I had to ride home like bat out of hell before the night descending upon me.
Will take it to the shop tomorrow as the warranty will expire in October this year.
The headlight itself does not appear to be crooked or anything and the high beam works and so the angel LED light.
Will keep you posted.

Did you try turning the ignition off & then back on after a few seconds?
My TC did the same to me but cleared after switching the bike off & back on,
the issue hasn't re-occurred.
 
Thank you. I just did that and it worked but this have never happened before. Not right and could be a sign that something is about to give in. How long since you had this issue and has it reoccurred since?

Is this the OG light, or the recall replacement?
 
Cheers buddy. I hope not as I use the bike to commute to work. I leave my house at 5:15am and come back at about 6:30pm, so both journeys are in darkness. Will see what I am told tomorrow.
 
Ok, the light worked ok today but took the bike to the shop nevertheless. She is booked for a check up next Thursday and also they will do the reverse gear module change since they have the part in store. They will also do a software update, as part of the reverse gear fix is to tell the computer that they have installed a part that works with the module. Since the adaptive mechanism appears to function, they will only inspect and run test on the bike as opposed to do the headlight recall, which apparently they have not had a bike yet needing the repair since the saga first began. They will lend me a bike for the duration of the repair and I asked for a K1600B but he said “yeah, you wish” Well, if you don’t ask you don’t get. They only have 4 loaners at the moment. A R Nine-T, a C400, a GS something and a S1000R or something like that. Will see.

Wonder if UK recall rules are different. In the US, the shop can’t take a bike in with an active recall and release it back without having done the work. Big liability issue here in the states. Whatever they’re doing, I’m wishing you luck through it all.

It has been a couple of months now & I use my bike for
my daily ride to work. I have had the headlight replaced
as it was starting to fail. This was done in November last year
at my annual service. The adaptive headlight issue is not
being treated as a general recall in the UK, but will be replaced
if & when it fails. When mine was replaced it still worked
& followed the bikes lean angle, but was found to be faulty
on inspection during the service.

J'en suis à mon deuxième phare , mon concessionnaire me dit que toujours pas de nouvelle référence pour un nouveau phare , autrement dit , il le change pour le même...
 
Cheers. My headlight does not appear to be broken, it was a one off situation but I decided to have checked out because it is under warranty still and I also need to ensure this fault is logged in the system just in case it happens again after the warranty expires. Will see what news I have on Saturday 🤞

I did have an odd issue like this .. once, in the almost 4 years I own the bike ... I took off and it was stuck in high beam .. the turn signals and aux lights didn't respond ... I was very worried .. but then pulled over, turned the bike off and then back on and everything went back to normal and never (so far) showed that issue again ... just one of these things I figured ;)
 
Cheers buddy. Rider0974 had the same issue once, so it makes 3 of us so far reporting this to the best of my knowledge. My assumption is that with all the computer components these days governing everything, it may have been a software glitch that went away with a simple reboot, i.e, switch off and restart.

That is exactly what I figured!
 
Ufff, just got a call from the dealership. I need a headlight replacement because under testing they noticed a small rattle on the swivelling mechanism, so they know is bound to fail at some point. The good news is that they have the headlight unit in store but not the special bushings, however, they have ordered them and should be with them tomorrow. I asked them not to rush things and do the work properly, I have the loaner bike with me and therefore I am mobile.
The reverse gear was done and they are just finishing updating the software.
I kind of thought I was somehow immune to the adaptive headlight issue, but it looks like I am their 1st customer😒

Ahh, on the upside, you won’t have that thought of potential failure lurking in the back of your head.
