Can anyone tell me whether the Transcontinental seat (719 version) will fit to a Classic. I assume the front tongue is the same, and the frame and rear subframe are the same on both, and that the rear bolt an position is common to both. The only requiremeent might be to remove any middle section hardware. Thanks

Found this: https://www.r18forums.com/threads/seat-compatibility.976/post-15125

Sounds like a TC seat might fit a classic, but a classic seat wouldn't fit a TC.

Wonder if a kind enough dealer would let you "try it on" to know for sure.
The classic seat will fit the TC & B, just only issue is you will need to remove relocate the wiring harnesses under the seat. Before I knew there were differences, I purchased the Mustang DayRider for a classic for my R18B. I have been using it for almost a year now.

Has anyone been able to confirm if TC seat would fit on a Classic?

Can the heating function still be utilized on a Classic by hard wiring it? Since the heated seat on B and TC is controlled via that 10.25" screen menus, not sure if it has a physical on/off button on the side of the seat like some of the aftermarkets do. If not I am sure there would be a way to have a (cleaning looking) switch that is hidden from plain sight. Has anyone does this yet?

I was leaning towards a Day Rider seat (without rider back rest for the time being) but curious to know how the seat comfort stacks up against a TC seat. The heating function would win me over by compromising a tad bit, if any, on plush comfort.

@rem47 which one is which in those pictures? I have not taken my seat off yet so don't know what it looks like underneath. If you have part numbers handy that would be great, if not I can try looking them up.

So based on those pictures looks like the two existing screws can be reused, and the bracket and the black piece ("decoupling element") would need to be purchased (not a big deal).

For those interested, including @XUMERX :
  • Bracket part #52531540506; $23.18
  • Decoupling Element part #52539899406; $4.97
Still waiting for someone to confirm if swapping out the bracket is all that is required to install a B/TC seat on it, possibly with heating capability.

Mounting points are the same, I went the opposite and put a R18 Classic seat on a R18B. The center of the B & T/C seat both have space for wiring harnesses that are located under them. With the Classic seat I had to remove the harnesses and holder and had to add some spacers to cover for the gap under the seat. So not sure how that would go in reverse.

I love the day rider seat from the roctane…..
Please tell me I can do it

I would call Max BMW and talk to a parts guy. They could confirm a common part number.

I can't help with the fitting side, but on the heating side only
the riders seat is controlled from the screen, the passenger
seat has a three position rocker switch on the left side giving
low off & high settings.

What is different on the Roctane's Day Rider? From what I can tell using the online configurator on BMW website, Day Rider seat looks the same as R18 Pure/Classic with the 2 piece design.

Did you have the standard factory seat on your B prior to getting the Mustang Day Rider set? How does the comfort compare? To my understanding the factory seat on B is more comfortable than the factory seat on Classic. Was the comfort gain on Day Rider enough to justify losing the heating functionality?

The Roctane uses the same seat as the B & T/C a 1 piece seat, not the 2

In my honest opinion no. Was a little better but definitely not worth losing the heat. I am so glad to have my original seat back now with the extra padding and heat. With the original seat, I could maybe last 25 mins of straight riding with it, the day rider possibly bumped it up to about 45 mins before I needed to stop and take a break off the bike.

That's good to know - thank you. I am trying to decide between the Day Rider or the Weekender for my Classic, and was considering getting the B or TC seat if it fits, with possibly retrofitting a switch to utilize heating function. Now, it sounds like comfort wise there wont be much gains with an un-altered B or TC seat, so why go thru the hassle of retrofitting a switch, let alone any additional wiring that may be required. I believe there is a heating coil under the B/TC as well which I just learned of watching one of @adamchandler's videos on Youtube for his conversion from B to TC.

Also, not trying to debate it, just want to make sure everyone has the correct info,.. but below screenshot is what it shows on the configurator for Roctane when selecting the Day Rider seat option (which is a free upgrade surprisingly!). It shows as a two piece.

You are right and maybe that is the reason I ended up with the wrong seat when I first got mine. I was not aware of the seat differences and was focused on buying the brown one for my bike, so that could explain what came up when I was searching. But if you look at the stock Roctane seat it is a 1 piece to hide the wiring harnesses located under it for the cases and rear lights. Also the T/C stock seat has a lot more cushion to it than the stock B seat. I am not familiar with the comfort of that seat but it looks to be twice the thickness of the seat on the B, so the T/C owners will need to chime in on the comfort.

Okay so from what I’m getting there is 2 piece and 1 piece designs of all types (day rider / weekender) I guess we just need indication if it’s interchangeable. BMW dealer said no…. But that’s cause stock without modification to the wire harness holder it might not fit… but with mod it could.. just need someone to try I guess.
