2021 BMW R18 Classic First Edition, 2010 Harley Davidson V Rod NightRod Special
Hi there - just wanted to say hi to everyone. I recently just purchased a used 2021 R18 Classic - all stock with reverse and cruise control.
I'm currently waiting for its delivery and super excited to experience it. My other bike is a Harley V Rod :)

Cheers!

Welcome. I am in Lancaster Pa. Are you close?
Thank you. I'm probably about 2 hours from you in Montgomery County, MD - Hopefully once I get and test the bike I will head out on your way and surrounding areas.

Finally !! I had an early delivery today. Here it is! - All stock R18 2021 First Edition with all the options including reverse...which seems to work when it wants to:)
It's a perfect compliment to my all black/red Harley VROD Nightrod which I really love due to its design, history and engineering that was put into it. I'm an engineer by trade so both the Vrod and the BMW R18 fit the bill in terms of my appreciation of their bold design.

I rode it around for a few hours after adjusting the "preload" to my weight - So far really enjoying it. I can't seem to lock the steering lock with the key and can't get it to work even after reading thru the manual. I'm not sure If I'm not doing something right. Locking the steering can't be this hard :)

Can't wait to start putting it thru its paces this weekend.

howdy twogun,
I found the lock to be a little odd but after a small study..
the steering on the pure and the classic works well on my R18s, the trick I found is to

to lock:
put the key in,
turn it left a bit..
then push in and pull the steering back off the stop a hair, it'll allow push in a little more..
turn key right and pull it out

to unlock:
push the key in, turn it left and let it pop out..
turn a right a hair and pull the key out

I always use my spare key, for years now.. and it works great.

hope this helps
Dave

Thank you for the info. I'm going to play around with the lock later today.

Very cool! Did you get the one at District? Looks like it's still on their website so probably not, but I had been considering that one a few months ago. The classic looks so..well...classic haha. Love the fat tire on the front. Congrats!

In other news, I got my recall letter for the reverse gear. Not going to even touch that until springtime. Alcina has already been in the shop for the headlight recall (Bob's BMW).

Hi Mike - I got mine from National Powersports in New Hampshire. They ended up having a better deal. So far so good. It's such a great bike. I'm enjoying every moment I get to jump on it.
