Just got done with the test ride. Does this motor lope and surge at idle. Is it normal?

How was your ride back to PA on the new bike..?View attachment 15496First time poster. Been lurking and looking for a bike. I am in the process of looking at this bike. BMW financing at 1.9%. OTD price is under 20k. Bike has 212 miles on it.
Trading my 2023 Honda Rebel 1100T DCT.
Opinions on the deal? Anything to watch out for on the 2023 model? Going to be new to BMW, so give me the straight skinny, please.
Also, will need to ride it 300 miles home. This means the first service will be due soon. I would like to do it myself. Oil change and checking valves are easy but what tools do I need (i.e. torx bits and what about clearing the maintenance light)?
Thank you for any help to the newbie…
I put in 800 miles down and back. Love the new BMW. Adaptive Cruise was awesome. I slept for 12 hours. Now off to do the first service and reset the maintenance. How was your ride back to PA on the new bike..?
Below is the maintenance thread with an attached work book with torque specifications and fluid capacities:
I put the attached PDF together for performing the following Annual or 6K interval scheduled maintenance:
- Air Filter Replacement
- Engine Case Oil Filter and Oil Fluid Change 4.0 L or 4*(1.0L Bottles)
- Transmission Oil Change 1.15 L or 2*(500 mL Bottles) + 150 mL Measured Note: Three (3) bottles will cover Transmission & Rear-Wheel Drive Oil Fluid Change
- Rear Wheel Gear Oil Change 210 mL
- Valve Adjustment 0.2 mm - 0.3 mm

You're driving back down for the service, or you're doing it yourself..?I put in 800 miles down and back. Love the new BMW. Adaptive Cruise was awesome. I slept for 12 hours. Now off to do the first service and reset the maintenance.
I did the service today and reset the maintenance minder. Easy Peasy. You're driving back down for the service, or you're doing it yourself..?
Triple-ing? I picked my 2023 with 228 miles on it in late July. Love it!Yay. We'll be twinning. I just got mine less than a month ago and it's just like yours. I'm still keeping my 2021 Rebel 1100 (not DCT version) though.
Watch out for stripping the threads on the seat bolt when removing and adding back the seat. I had to learn about helicoil thread repair kits to fix mine after its coil got tweaked.
Keep a tiny 2 inch square microfiber cloth tucked under the buttons by the passenger seat strap. It will be handy for wiping off fingerprints from the chrome such as the saddlebag levers and gas cap door. Or, line them with clear protective film like I did.
Oh, and the phone storage bay on the tank is pretty much useless unless you have a small phone and no case. Sales person kept saying it had wireless charging but it doesn't. There's a USB C cable inside that you plug into your phone.
Aliexpress is a good place for other accessories. I tried looking at other places like amazon, google, or ebay and couldn't find a good variety of stuff.
I find it easier to mount the bike cop style from the right. Also, it's easiest to straighten the bike off the kickstand by first turning the handlebars all the way to the right full lock. Most people just straighten the bars and then straighten the bike but turning all the way right is better. Never had to worry about this on my Rebel.
Carplay is better than the built in Motorrad system and the clunky control wheel interface. To me, the speakers on the fairing and saddlebags are useless. I have speakers in my helmet. I would rather take the bike speakers out and make them storage bays.
