TC not retaining preferences

I traded in my Classic for a TC a month or so ago. The frustration with the TFT is real.

It does not ever remember my settings.

Here is a list of the ridiculous things it's doing:

1. The adaptive cruise distance keeps moving the preference. I prefer it at 2 bars. When I first start the bike and use it, sometimes it's on 1. Other times it's on 3. Sometimes, it's even on 2. It has a mind of it's own.

2. The equalizer settings adjust all over the place on their own. I set for Treble -4, Bass 0, Fader -1, Adaptive Volume 2. I turn off the bike, turn it back on, and they all all different.

3. Today, I came out of work, started it, and usually after some time the radio turns on tuned to the station I last listened to. Today, it was off. I turned it on, and it was on SiriusXM Preview. Went to "favorites" and almost all my preset stations were gone. It retained a couple of XM stations and one Sirius station. All other is deleted.


When I had my bike at Cycle Works in Barrington IL, I raised the issue to my sales rep and asked to have the latest software updated. He said it's automatic over the air. It's not, and now I'm 1.5 hours away. Nice.

What is going on with this thing. Super frustrating.

I will say it needs the latest updates as something is not right there. My bike does remembers all my settings. The ACC is set at 3 by default as being the longest distance which to be fair, it is not a mile away from the vehicle on front. I never use the radio as I prefer my playlist and the equaliser is set at 0 values except the treble which I set at +3.
Indeed, the update it is not through air like a mobile phone, that rep is either new and don’t know sh*t or he was just simply not bothered. Since the dealership is far from you, try to reset all settings to factory and then select new values to see if that cures it. I have a feeling it won’t but worth the trouble.
Failure to get the results you wanted, how about disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes or so. With the battery disconnected, switch the ignition on and try to crank the motor. It won’t do nothing but you will drain all current from the systems. Switch off, reconnect the battery and then switch on the ignition and see if the values are at factory settings and do your preferred settings.
Seems like a lot of faff around but may do the trick.

Excellent advice @Anibal, when i got my TC in October 2021 it had issues saving audio settings,
but after my dealer updated software to 013_013_020 it behaved as expected.
They like to have the bike overnight when updating software to ensure the update completes.
Since it's been fine and retains audio settings without any issue.
I'd expect any newer version would be fine also.

Not 100% sure, but I think some of the interactions with the BMW Connect App plays a part; I had issues right after the new Connect App version was released.

Lately though, my media music, preferences and navigation function has been excellent; I have found setting my phone to "do not disturb" helps with failures and such while riding.

Note: I don't really play with the equalizer, I have my audio set to "balanced", which seems to retain that preferences. Also, I don't use the radio receiver or satellite service.

Ah yes, I found the Connect app interfered with Media playback, so I just don't start it until the end of a ride, if I need it.

I never use phone features or GPS so can't comment on those factors.
