For those of you who don't prefer chrome, do you like the looks of that dark gray Rocktane? As far as I can tell, the Rocktane only comes in that one color.

I really like the smoked-chrome pipes on the Roc. If a kit didn't cost a kidney and a lung I might be in for it. I might look at ceramic coating the chrome pipes on my B at some point, but that starts off a journey to black out every other chrome bit and I'm right back to losing organs.

I would almost consider swapping all of my chrome, including the Jekyll & Hyde exhaust with a ROCTANE owner who wanted all chrome and a throatier exhaust sound..

I love the look of the ROCTANE smoked chrome...

Yeah, I picked up the equipment and started powder coating my own parts!!! Worked out perfect on first round.... Second round small test with new color and air pressure not right.... BIG FAIL!!! Been scared to try again but I need to finish up, still have my foot rest to go.

But after I was unable to find a local person to do the job a friend of mine convinced me to do I myself so I got a Harbor Freight gun and the largest convection air oven I could find and went to work…

How would you compare your finished parts look, to that of the ROCTANE?

Anyone know the ROCTANE smoked chrome process in order to get that finished look..?

Well there are actual black parts that I still want from the Roctane I will get after my wife is paying less attention to my R18 spending . The plastic parts on the bags hinges, taillights and front blinkers will eventually be replaced with Roctane parts. Some parts are painted black but will be replaced.

Caring for my bike is therapeutic in maintaining my mental health...

Ditto…..there is a mystery gratification to having a showroom condition BMW.
-also- the TC or B with flip-wings provides the best wind management of any touring bike out there.
