2023 R18 100 year anniversary edition
I'm about ready to order the Bren tune for my 23 Anniversary model. Just had the 600 mile service.

Just wanted to check in with the guys that have already downloaded their map. Any further feedback or comments??

Mechanically I only plan to add the Bren tune to my bike and that air filter you guys recommended...and for once stop.

My bike is running good, but would like more torque. And in theory according to Bren rune they even out the rough spots through the rpm spectrum et...

Thanks.

As an aside....BMW could easily have built in another 25 ft. lbs of torque in this motor, trans, and set up.....My Harley that had a Jims 120 in it had 147ft. lbs of torque to the rear wheel on a legit dyno, ran smooth and never ran hot.

No ping, perfect. Certainly BMW could have made the R18s as fast as they look.....

I have in on my bagger. Hard to notice the difference to be honest, at least for me. It does seem to idle better :-D

I also noticed minimal difference when I installed mine. It smoothed out the idle, but didn't notice any increase in power or responsiveness.

And those of you that swapped out the air filter? Recommendations?

I usually use K&N filters...but whatever works best and is easy to install. Someone on here had a problem with the fit on one of the filters?

Thanks.

I did the brentune and the dna kit with the frame. Granted, I didn't have a ton of miles on it stock, but I'm altogether impressed with how the bike runs. Smooth, smooth, smooth. Pulls and keeps pulling. No dead spots, no catchy throttle. And it moves! I wouldn't need any quicker of a bike.

Air filter kit was an easy mod. I did need my own longer bolts for the frame, but otherwise simple.

It definitely does not have the impact the good DynoJet tunes I have in my Indians. But it does offer subtle improvements in fueling that smoothed out the off idle and midrange rpms.
Wether it’s worth the price of admission is your call.

Thanks. Which air filter kit did you get?

Thanks for the honest assessment Dave ... I have been kicking the idea of doing it for a while ... but I am contemplating diminishing returns here and thus have not done it ... yet ;)

Me to..... will notice more difference with a new jacket and maybe taking the wife out for a nice meal..... their r ninet tune is underwellming as well.

The motor improves quite a bit as the first year or so is put on it..... would not surprise me if that is what some people who tune early are mostly experiencing.

Anyway, my $1,000 is going on a tig welder... so I can stuff up the nice exhausts.

My thoughts exactly!!! Good thinking brother!

EDIT: here are my thoughts (warning I had a couple shots)
If (and only IF) Brentune can remap the engine modes to ...
What is now 'Rain Mode' (IMO useless) to -> what is now 'Roll'
and ... remap what is now 'Roll' to -> 'Rock'
and remap is what is now 'Rock Mode' to -> 'Holy $hit!!!!'
then I will gladly spit out the 'Grand' they want ... otherwise ... 'No Thanks'
.... just my 2¢ 😁

In "rock" mode, my R18 feels like a rocket ship. But then the last boxer I owned was an R1200C. The latter bike was great on looks and ergonomics, but a zero in the rocket ship category.

The price of entry is substantial, for sure. And is it worth it? I guess that depends on what $1000 means to anyone pondering the purchase. I can attest to the silky throttle response. I've never ridden a "fast" bike, but I'm at a good pace before I can even think, and the bike isn't working for it at all.

Same. Just moves! I actually appreciate the stock exhaust here, as it keeps pretty calm even as the bike is just picking up speed.

Are the 3 ride modes still distinctive, or does the BrenTune blur all 3 into a super mode?

The modes are still there. I’m in Rock mode unless there’s water on the ground, so I don’t have as much to say about the other two modes. But they remain different, I do know that much!
