R 18 Roctane
thinking of touring on r 18 roctane in march , Victorian highlands and snowy mountains N.S.W (australia) approx. a 3500 km trip on the back end of summer. any feedback?

Go for it... me personally, my Model B only allows for about four to maybe five days on the road; the side cases are very limited space-wise.. My Model B offers some additional comforts, similar to the TC in terms of (navigation, heated seat, grips, music and additional wind protection). All of these additional comforts are of course, exactly what I was looking for as I jumped off of my 2008 GS Adventure (96,600+ miles) and into a bagger style bike as I have become much older in my days (56 yrs).

Get a rear seat bag (saddleman and kuryakyn make some good ones) and you can go and go. Easier to strap the bag on with a sissy bar, but some will work just perched on the seat and tied down. I’m waiting til spring to get the saddleman 3400, as it’ll tie to just the seat and I don’t want a sissy bar bolted on (even tho I have one sitting in a box in the garage).

Other than needing to expand the bike’s storage, the bike is plenty capable of touring on. Maybe not the most comfortable seat, but if you’re fueling and stretching every couple hours, you’re golden.

Missed that it’s a roctane. If you can find a shield to bolt on, all the better. If not, still tourable, but you’re likely to be more fatigued after fighting the open air all day.

Fwiw.... I use these on the back seat of my r ninet..... I have a 50l and a 20l.... I also carry a 2l fuel bottle in case I do something silly.
