the keyless is diconnected
the tail light pulls away from the wrong side of harness and is connected to fuse box -so whats next?

i had got into a seat i thought would be compatible- i see now why they are always pkgd as bobber kit. ... dominos!

Remove left side cover and identify where the wiring for the rear end plugs in. Carefully separate the two parts of the connection. It's not easy the first time, just try to not break any plastic. Once you figure out the mechanism and do it a few times, it gets easier.

Hey Jim.

I can't go out to my bike to verify since it's like 2000 miles away, but I think you squeeze the squared off part on both sides

see photo. I recall that it's not easy. The whole thing can be detached and doing that might make it easier to see/appreciate the connection mechanism

You'll get it

Clip pulls out from left not right

Should right side pull out too?

As it sits disconnected remaining part of the bracket that clips the what seems to be fuse box

I honestly don't remember, but yes, it seems to me that the plug going to the rear end was a bare connector, not a connector within a connection housing. If you can't figure out how to pull that thing to the right, I think that this bit

unclips from whatever is holding it in place.

with it out from the engine a bit, it will likely be easier to solve
