Rain protection on TC

Hi everyone!

I just bought a 2023 TC and I'll be riding her for work, 400 mile trips across the state. I'm curious if the TC offers decent rain protection or if I should upgrade my gear?

I'm coming off a 2010 R1250RT which offers good rain protection. And I have rain gear but it's well used and I'm considering buying new if necessary.

What're your thoughts?

I’ve driven in heavy rain and hail. IMO the TC has very good weather protection.

I ride my 2021 Transcontinental every day to and from work and elsewhere, all year round. Summers can be over 40 C while winter can be -5 C or lower. Have ridden in pouring rain, hail, and a bit of light snow. My thoughts are that TC has great wind and rain protection. Not as good as the 2009 K1300 GT I came off but still very, very good. In the cold the Transcontinental has good warmth off the engine and exhausts, and fab heated grips and seat. Interestingly it doesn't seem to get baking hot in the summer heat.

Small side bar: during the colder months I replace the small, clear plastic factory wind deflectors with some slightly larger glossy black ones. They don't pivot like the BMW ones but close out and deflect the cold, wet air that comes around the smaller BMW ones. I put the factory ones back on in the warmer months and ride with them open.

Coming off an R1250 RT I wouldn't think you would need to upgrade your wet weather gear, but there is no point in letting a good excuse go to waste.

I ride the Model B and have been caught in a couple of decent rain storms; I wear a fly fishing jacket made by ORVIS, H/H rain pants over my existing pants and my BMW high top sneakers riding shoes are also waterproof..

I'm bone dry when I shed the rain gear at my destination.. I'd say the rain protection on the Model B is better than my previous 2008 GS Adventure bike as a comparison..
