Need to know your price range and what is important to you. DOT is an easy approval. Some helmets have Snell and the latest ECE approval. Others even have MIPS technology as well. So figure out your price range and know how well tested for safety you want your helmet. Those two things will narrow it down tremendously. Then choose full face or modular or even 3/4 and know your size. A couple other choices would be interchangeable face shields for night riding or flip down tinted visor. And make sure it is pin lock compatible. Then choose your color and or design. Only you can answer all of those questions. Once you’ve those answers then plug then into a site like Revzilla. That will narrow it down to a few dozen choices at the very most. Sometime only 10-20 depending on your choices. Good luck!

Price range as long as it isn’t going over $1500 I am good. My first choice is the 3 I mentioned in my post if anyone has had any experience with them.

I also have ordered a Sena 50 C system that will be installed in the new helmet

1500 encompasses virtually every helmet out there. The most expensive helmet I own is the

HJC RPHA 1N Senin

It is an excellent helmet. It is ECE certified and has excellent aerodynamics. Very quiet and high end quality.
Shoei makes excellent helmets. The one you mention is only DOT certified which is probably meaningless for Shoei they probably just didn’t seek ECE ceterfication.

The Shoei you mentioned however is a full half pound heavier than that HJC I own. The Sena adds another 6 ounces.
The Schuberth C5 is an excellent helmet! I tried one on at the rally. And am thinking about getting one. I it is one of the quietest helmets out there and is also lighter than that Shoei. I would choose the Schuberth over the Shoei. Again it is only DOT certified which is likely meaningless.

The HJC and the Shoei and the Schuberth are all very similar in price range.

At this time of year some of the sizes may be sold out so you will have to check. Make sure you get the right size. Too big or too small is going to be suboptimal.

Depends on how big your head is. If you got a normal size noggin, you got lots of choices. If you got a pumpkin like mine, I've only found two full helmets that are comfortable...the Shoei Neotec and the Simpson. Everything else gives.me a.massive headache in 15 minutes.

I echo that. Anything bigger than a xl will narrow your choices. If you have a 3xl pumpkin head like me then you will have to search and may not get the exact helmet you want.

I bought a Schuberth C5 yesterday, size 57. I had a C3. Big difference on fit and I notice substantial noise reduction and less buffing on my R18B. No regrets.
Interesting you mention a big difference in fit. I recently bought a C3 (discontinued so on sale) to replace a previous C3 and its tighter but not yet broken in so I'm still hopeful about it. What is different in the fit?

I’ve had many different brands of helmets and my favorite is Nolan. Good quality, good fit, internal flip up sun shield, and I especially like the adjustable ratcheting chin strap rather than d-rings, much easier to use. I’ve had some very expensive helmets that had so much lifting at speed I felt like I was being strangled, the Nolan doesn’t do that.

Schuberth C5s here. Very comfortable, light, pretty quiet considering it's a modular and clean and neat comm installation.
Similar fit to Shoei XD-4 which was my favorite during my R 1200 GS decade.

You found your fit. That makes a lot of difference on a long day ride. A helmet hot spot is a torture and gets to you after a while.

I am a helmet whore. I have owned 2 schuberths, 2 shoei, Arai, and a bunch of lower end stuff.

Arai is the best IMO. The shoei Neotec 2 is way over rated. It just hasn’t held up well. I wear it fairly often but think it’s overpriced and under built. I have a Shoei Hornet x2 that is pretty good. Schuberth is overrated. I’ve spent thousands on them and the quality was disappointing. I had a carbon SP1 for racing cars and it was too fragile. My motorcycle Schuberth feels cheap.

I have an xl now but it seems a little big. I am going to measure my head when I get home to be more precise
Fwiw.... I can wear a properly fitted Shoe in either L or XL.... depending on what size liner bits are fitted. I always thought I was XL.... but now know I am more a L. With a L it can feel a bit more snug initially but settles in after a few weeks of wear and is a better long term choice.

Keep in mind all helmet brands favour a particular head shape (round, oval etc) so most people who favour a Shoe will have a slight oval shaped head.... Arail is roundish if I remember right.

After loosing some weight I replaced the liner in my XL Shoe with a size or two bigger one and the helmet fits like my new L shoe.

I will second the Shoei Neotec 3.
I just returned from a 3,800 mile ride and I swear by the modular design.
