Bike
2022 BMW R18B
First time user here. I have a 2022 R18B. Bought a hitch (Texas sidecar) and a trailer later last year. To wire the bike for the trailer I purchased a Hex exCan. Last weekend I went to install this but found I received the wrong kit. But while I had the bike torn down some, I went ahead a change my rear tire. When I got everything back together, I have this Error message. See attached photo. Any ideas? I could reflash the ECU but not sure that will cure it. I have double checked all connections, etc. and all looked good.

I think that by changing the rear tyre the suspension strut may have become misaligned. On the B the suspension is electronically managed. Try to flush the error and see if it goes away. If not and unless you are mechanically inclined, I would take it to a dealership just in case. An unbalanced suspension will affect the bike’s ability to handle properly.

I did reflash my ECM but to no avail. On google they said change the strut adjustment from Auto to Min, but I don't see where that adjustment can be made. And the little arm that controls the strut adjustment looks like it is aligned correctly. I may have to take it in. Nearest Dealer is approx. 110 miles north. Ugh. Too cold to ride, I'd have to trailer it.

I did a quick search on the forum, using just the single word "strut"; it looks as though, I few forum folks have experienced the error message.

I'm thinking that since you were working on the rear tire and such, it might be worth checking all of the wiring underneath the seat; try reseating the connectors, check for any corrosion and such on the PINs.

Also, the potentiometer for the suspension is located on the Right Hand Side (RHS or throttle side) of the Model B/TC, it will look like a little steering damper; it provides input to the dynamic suspension, based on weight sage and such - perhaps you misaligned that mechanical mechanism when working on the tire.

If the two above items turn out to be good, perhaps check in with the service shop if the bike is still under warranty...

Just a final update: I had to take the bike into the shop. After a few weeks in, the problem was the speed/anti lock brake sensor on the rear wheel went bad. After that was replaced, everything is back to normal.

Any chance the sensor was damaged while you were replacing the rear tire..?
