R18 TC
While waiting for the shop to complete the reverse recall repair, I test rode a Can Am Electric motorcycle.

That thing was a blast!!! I was prepared to be underwhelmed, but I was very surprised. It had plenty of power and regen at the throttle could be used to brake.

If they could make one with the range of my TC, I might consider it. Alas...only 70 miles on a charge.

I never pass up the chance to ride something I’ve never ridden. Every new experience gives me a broader perspective and has really helped me define what I like and what I don’t, and why. Rigid frame Harley with extended springer and hand shifter? Glad I had it, wouldn’t want to ride it now. The Can Am is more like riding a snowmobile, takes a little getting used to, but a real blast once you do. Everybody should try an electric bike for the experience of smoothness, instant torque, no shifting. I’ll stick with my R18, but I’ll never turn down a chance to ride something new or different.

I'm fairly power train agnostic. Which ever powerplant delivers the best experience is good with me. I enjoy the R18 for the experience it provides. This doesn't mean I can't appreciate other experiences. The electric bikes provide the low end torque of the R18 without the bulk. Around town in traffic, they are great. I've ridden equivalent 650cc sport bikes that are absolute dogs at low end when saddled with a big guy like me. Also, while I appreciate the exhaust note of my R18, loud pipes do not save lives. That's a myth some folks use to justify being obnoxious.
All of that said, if I could get a decent sized electric bike that fits me and has the range and performance I want, I'd definitely be looking.
