    BMW R18 Original edition Windshield

I recently bought a Chinesium setup off ebay, came to $200. Certainly not BMW quality, but WAY cheaper. I got the frame: https://www.ebay.com/itm/226579571337 And the Windshield: https://www.ebay.com/itm/326524628015 Now, the seller sent me the wrong windshield at first and it took almost 2...

    BMW Parts

What are you waiting on? I am sure the depo doesn't stock every possible part.

    BMW Parts

Yes, they have 1 or 2 regional warehouses that stock some parts. When I have ordered through my local dealer, they can get many items in 2-3 days.

What did you do to your R18 today?

As dude who owns both (2018 Low Rider with the Milwaukee 8 and a 2021 R18), these are my thoughts on the differences: The BMW is better engineered. The parts are high quality and changing things out it easy. The BMW is heavier and you can feel it, whether it is pushing it around in the garage...

    Dropping the bike

I've seen people running these. They will of course get damaged when you drop it, but are cheaper to replace than the hardware. https://captain-itch.com/product-category/motorcycle-leather-products/harley-davidson/engine-guard-wraps/

    Harley Davidson seeking new CEO

It seems like Harley ceded the entry level market to companies like Royal Enfield, who makes a classic looking bike that young people can afford. The Interceptor / Meteor 650 platform fills that hole the Sportster filled for the last couple decades, until it was dropped. Super curious to see...

    Harley Davidson seeking new CEO

This story was released late yesterday- Harley is actively seeking a new CEO after Zeitz announces "voluntary" retirement. Zeitz has been a trainwreck for the company with repeat bad decisions. His latest was shutting the US factory for the Nightster, Sportster S and Pan America and sending...

What did you do to your R18 today?

Were you valves in spec at 7500 or did you have to make adjustments? My R12GS has held it's valve adjustment in spec for 30k miles, I keep expecting to have to get new shims but haven't yet. Curious how my R18 will do.

    Rough Winter in the Midwest

Last February I rode to work 3x every week (we were only in the office 3x a week at the time). This Feb I have ridden to work just once. It is much, much colder this year than last. Hopefully it isn't a trend.

    BMW R18 battery

Man, I've had two Shorai batteries and both have worked great, outside of needing to warm them up below 45 degrees. The one was in a V-Rod, I had it 6 years with the Shorai, sold it to a buddy, and the battery was still working when he sold it a couple years later. Impressive longevity. The...

    Question Dealership valve checks

BMW boxer engines are about the easiest engines there are to check valve clearance on, definitely something you can check yourself. All you need is a straight edge and a set of feeler gauges, you don't even have to contort your body in weird ways and/or remove the tank and bodywork like with...

    Left over 2023 R18’s

Yeah, the left over 2023 R18's are the best value in motorcycling right now. If I didn't have one, I would totally be buying one!

How much is my TC worth??

My post said marked down $8k, not marked down to $8k. List price is $28k and they have it for $20k.

Mungenast Motorsports in St Louis. They have some good deals on Zero motorcycles as well.

How much is my TC worth??

The R18's weren't great sellers and the market for heavyweight cruisers has really taken a hit. Harley was offering $3k off baggers last month on new bikes, and lots of dealers are full of 2024 inventory still. My local Indian dealer still has a new 2023 Challenger on the floor and has it...

Question Does the fishtail sound keep getting louder?

No, I replaced both mufflers since I found a deal on a pair of them that were taken off by my local dealer after I bought a pair of V&H mufflers of course. Having it louder on one side would have driven me nuts.

Question Does the fishtail sound keep getting louder?

I am in the unique position of having replaced 1 year old (3k miles) fishtails with new ones, due to a van knocking over my bike while parked and having to replace some parts. The new mufflers were definitely quieter than the ones I'd run 3k miles on. I was surprised how much of a difference...

Great, we have an R18...most expensive bike to get serviced? Service plan option

Right, it's the easiest bike to work on that requires a $600 gadget, which unfortunately doesn't interface with the gadget to do the same stuff for my other 10 year old bmw, to clear basic codes. :-) But really, outside of that, it's a well engineered and easy bike to work on.

Great, we have an R18...most expensive bike to get serviced? Service plan option

The R18 isn't any harder to service than any other cruiser, oil drain plug and filter is easier to get to than a Harley, as an example. Also- no belt or chain to adjust, no extra primary to change fluid in. The only thing that takes a special tool would be bleeding the brakes to get the fluid...

When you ask AI to make a picture of a typical BMW GS rider

Oh man, I feel like we need a series of these. Typical Harley rider, Ninja rider, KLR rider, etc.
