6,000 miles service cost is ridiculous!

I paid $103 for my 6k service (had changed the oil myself a month earlier.

    Iconic Pictures with R18

lol that is correct, however that road is on a dam in literally the middle of nowhere. We were there for 30 minutes, and I believe 1 car went by.

R18 Annual or 6K Interval Scheduled Maintenance Parts List & Torque Specifications Worksheet

Yea, I wasn't planning on messing with that plug, just wanted to make sure I had all my part numbers correct for where they went on the bike. Called my closest dealer, and they said $350 for the yearly/first year service. I was already planning on changing the engine oil myself this week, which...

R18 Annual or 6K Interval Scheduled Maintenance Parts List & Torque Specifications Worksheet

Gotcha, hadn't seen a close up of it used, just sitting on the table with stuff. Trying to do research to make sure I have everything before I start draining. I'm seeing... 07119963252 = Oil drain plug crush washer 07119963132 = Final drive fill plug crush washer 33117695219 = Final drive drain...

R18 Annual or 6K Interval Scheduled Maintenance Parts List & Torque Specifications Worksheet

Curious, I've seen the gasket ring 252 and gasket ring 132 listed a few times, but I don't think I've seen it explained as to what they are respectively used for.

100 Year Edition - Akrapovic Exhaust Baffle Removal

I'd assume it's the same as the akra pipes on the R9T. Euro 5 standards or some such required the baffles to be "permanent" as of 2021 I believe. Prior year R9T akra pipes had screw in baffles, then they welded them. I personally took a dremel to the welds (as did a lot of other folks). Not sure...

    Who designed this ?

    1. Actually hadn't noticed this until I had my modular flipped up after leaving a gas station one day. Chin guard seems to completely block the glare otherwise. Looks like a pretty easy shape to wrap. 2. I wasn't a fan of the TC windshield height when I test rode one. Too high to get any...

    Cat Delete

I would wager you would need to have it tuned after. If you get a BTmoto tune, they will advise on when to retune and charge $125 I think for each new tune.

Has a rain cover in a dedicated pocket

What did you do to your R18 today?

It has a sleeve on the back with bars you set to fit your sissy bar. The other sleeve that goes up and down is velcro and you set it to the height it needs to rest at if you don't have a luggage rack (I have the Roadstyler sissy bar and luggage rack, so won't use the vertical support). The bars...

What did you do to your R18 today?

Last week or so.. Added the Big Ass Cup Holder. Was using the ram mount cup holder, but it really only liked can diameter things, and tended to get tippy with anything taller than a 20oz bottle. Also got a Saddlemen CD3600 for trips that include a hotel vs the dry bag for camping.

Exhaust flapper mod and dilemma over part numbers

Removing or disabling makes it where the bike doesn't go quiet at idle/low RPM. Some speculate that disabling them may remedy some heat issues in stop/go situations (I haven't seen anyone test such a thing). You don't need a new tune with them disabled (can't speak too "removed" if you mean get...

Exhaust flapper mod and dilemma over part numbers

I was saying that even if you plug it back in, the fault history will still exist until you clear it with a code reader. 100% may have no issues, especially on routine service. As I understand it BMW has a very recent history of denying warranty claims for completely unrelated issues (some in...

Exhaust flapper mod and dilemma over part numbers

If you mean disconnect the mechanical cables at the other end, they're inside a box that's not very easy to get to or open (never gotten all the way inside it, so no idea what the cables look like in there). If you're talking about the electrical connection controlling the mechanical cable, you...

    Engine temperature

It's pretty hilarious that BMW thought the "power reserve" gauge was the best way to fill the basically cosmetic analog gauges, but decided against any way to show engine temp digitally or analog on a bike that can very obviously overheat in fairly common situations.

Exhaust flapper mod and dilemma over part numbers

Comparing only to my R9T, but the R18 servo cables are VASTLY more difficult to remove and reengage because of their location and lack of slack available. After messing with it a couple of times, I opted for the servo-buddy to avoid the frustration.

Second one definitely works, is half the price, and the tail is easily tucked into the frame.

    Freedom Performance Exhaust BUYER BEWARE

Just an update to the FPE saga. It has now been 23 days since they were "reviewing it" with no response. I stopped responding because I gave them $1,630 for a product that doesn't fit. Buyer beware, if they send you the wrong parts, good luck.

I can certify that I am real. I can't promise high quality content or conversation, but I do in fact own an R18, and I'm not selling or scamming lol.
