Rufus: Thank you. That is what I was looking for --from someone experienced with both bikes. As the suspension part numbers are the same, the delta is down to the saddle and possibly a little more sidewall. Short of a Wilbers (thanks Noelpolar) swap, the Roctane will be a no-go for me. I...
Hi all! Long time, almost 2 years?
Looking at possibly a 3rd R18, a Roctane. I have been all over the web searching for a best answer, so I’m throwing this out here.
The Roctane is reportedly more comfortable with perhaps a more compliant rear. The rear suspension components all share the same...
I had a Classic and traded it. I missed it and bought a Pure that I love and will not depart with. It is my exit bike —when I can no longer ride on two, it will get a sidecar. In the meantime, my GSA is the trading stock. Maybe an R18B?
Thanks, that is one of the ones that I’ve been considering. I have been searching far and wide for that side-on shot as it always looks different in the posted images —trying to gauge how much room I really have.
Glad to see this as I’ve been stewing on one. How is the quality and is there any adjustment for the rest itself? (ie) Can the angle be micro-adjusted fore and aft? How about a pic from the side? Thanks!
I’m on my way to 59 with a body that seems to be rapidly wearing out. My intent with my (second) R18 purchase was to have the perfect sidecar donor when the time came to give up two wheels. In the meantime, I’m going to enjoy it. Go for it.
Thank you for the reply and sorry for the delay in responding! I am curious as to how the skate bushes are wearing and if there have been any problems with you fastening arrangement?
NP,
Now that you’re several months into the bushing mod … how has it held up? Is it still functioning satisfactorily and safely? Any changes, mods, etc since your last post? I need another “project!”
TIA!
Sorry for the late reply. The bike was contracted by BMW Motorrad Canada (ergo the placard) with a third party. I do not recall who that was, but forced induction is one of their specialties. I think this was largely a loose proof-of-concept/test mule and not necessarily a finished “show piece”...
I swear I read an article that CarPlay was coming to the new F series bikes? MotoPlay perhaps? I liked it on my GW, though it was a bit cumbersome. Any more, I just use my iPhone and a Quad Lock … universally simple.
