Welcome. I have had my '21 classic for just over 2 weeks and put 1100 km's on it. Some basic modes and love it. Last ride was a BMW K1200S I have had for 20 years.
Close up of the rubber section. Almost impossible to fold back. Very thick and strong rubber.
Have done a couple of longer rides now and very happy with the final placement. My foot is sitting with the toe just sitting to the left of the front lever and heel is pressed into the back lever...
Today I added the retention wires to the side covers. See the seperate post with pictures and details: https://www.r18forums.com/threads/right-side-trip-panel-covers-toolkit-popped-off.938/
Also added a chrome oil cooler cover: Difference between standard and new:

I sourced the cables with a push to unlock slider from a local supplier here in Germany.: https://www.steelropes24.com/
Tucked away and easily removeable if needed. Fed the wire between the rubber gromet in the attachment area on the lowest side.
Well the reason for the purchase was ease of manouvering in the carport for space management. Good side effect is that the bike stands upright and I can check the oil.

In typical german fashion it is a combination of several words. Broken down it is literally: Oil Messuring Stick.
But if you want to get your point across maybe you need to frame it to the engineers:
Hey Dipstick add a damn Dip Stick will you!
But for me I have resolved the issue...
So reading this chat has made me paranoid about my side covers. Anyone looked into something like the above? Way too long but can be adjusted. Havnt pulled the cover yet to see if they can be attached but could be an option.
Thoughts for those of you who have investigated it?

Today I did a final adjustment on the front to accomodate my riding boots. Went for a quick ride to pick the daughter up from school and must say the feel is completly different. Easy to shift down but even better up shifting small movement of the foot and can find the rear shifter very easily...
Ok I thought you swapped the location on the spine to allow more clearance. Not switched front to back.
I have the classic so maybe not as much issue with the clearance.
How do you find the rubber rings on the wunderlich extension I see you are running as the front one?
Will do.
Will also take a closer look at them tomorrow to see how robust they look. And upload a photo if I can show how thick they are.
First impressions more solid feel than the standard ones I removed.
Upgraded the gear shifter extensions. Both front and back extensions added.
Adjusted the front to lower and back
Will update impression after next ride.
The wife has a 540i and in the past I had a 530d. Bit worrisome first time you hit the electronic speed limiter especially if it is still pulling.
When I did the European delivery on my 330i back when I was living in NJ I thought I killed it first time it happened just after I hit the magic...
