Ride report: Took the missus for a coffee burn today. She’s 55kg/110 lbs, 5’1”/155 cm. She found the backrest perfect and didn’t mind the stock seat. It was only half an hour each way, which is typical for us. YMMV. The backrest allowed me to let her feel the torque now and then. She said she...
Bike looks great without a backrest, but I think it looks good, if you have to have a backrest. This being such a torquey beast I think the wife will feel more secure with some support.
I installed a Roadstyler pillion backrest on my Roctane, made to order in Poland. Seems excellent quality, sturdy construction and nicely finished. Came with all the required hardware. Instructions on their website could be better. I found a video on YT by “Aussie Ryder” showing his install on...
From the “bikeexif” site, for those who want more pics. I like the paint. Rear cowl is nice, if impractical. I guess you wouldn’t ride this in the rain anyway. It’s got blinkers, mirrors, why not a front fender? I think that would finish it off nicely.
Thinking more about what happened, and riding my Roctane some more, I realise that riding a heavy bike really showcases, and magnifies, your slow speed handling skills, or lack thereof! It’s motivated me to learn more, and practise more, in this area. ATM I’m watching that ex-NYPD guy’s...
These bikes are gorgeous in a classic, timeless way. I don’t get why the prices are tanking atm. Such a nice alternative to the Harleys and Indians, which are great in their own ways.
Thanks. I’ve seen them fitted to a fair few bikes on here but never really looked that closely. I don’t want something cheap looking.
Any other input welcome.
Thanks. Just stepped off during the incident. I guess that could have turned out differently.
No aches or pains from picking up the beast either. I did think about that the next day!
Thanks all for the encouragement and suggestions. I’ve almost exclusively leaned to the uncluttered look, as in no drop protection on my bikes. I prefer the clean look and I reckon it’s cheaper to fix any damage than to protect every bike I own. However almost all my previous bike have been...
Thanks for the sentiment.
I must say, when I was younger I would’ve been a bit down on myself as a result of this incident. But, at 63, I’ve lived a bit, been through some stuff and seen others go through real life stuff, like really big things like my neighbour losing his lovely wife to cancer...
Was a glorious winter day down here in “the Shire”. Rode into the Nasho down to Audley, then across the Woronora River bridge, through Jannali and Como.
Some of the roads in Jannali were dead end, hilly turnarounds. Somehow one got the better (worst?) of me and I let gravity win. I’d been...
