One of the main things that drew me to the R18 is the mid-controls. I didn't like riding with forward controls. I feel that mid-controls keep you connected to the bike much better.

I purchased one last year at Cycle Gear. Find a place that has a large selection so you can try them on and have a good fit. My local BMW dealer also had a large selection. Some helmet manufacturers like Arai, have price control so the prices are the same no matter where you get them.

I personally think open air sound systems on a motorcycle are the stupidest thing. It's only good for Harley Bros who like to cruise around town and blast their music to the whole neighborhood.

I have a Beeline as well. I was unaware that the voice prompting is now available without a subscription.

I had to replace mine after about a year. Energizer or Duracell for the replacement and you shouldn't have an issue.

I just installed the Clearview shield 18" with recurve. It improved the wind buffeting from the OEM under 65-70mph, but not much difference above that for me. I'm 5'7" and ride the stock seat.

I recently installed the Clearview R18 Classic 18 inch replacement with the recurve. It only has marginal improvement over the OEM. I'm 5'-7" tall and on the stock seat.

Does anyone know if BMW makes a plug to put in the top of the forks when the windshield bracket is removed?

I just picked up a Panther cable lock from Bezos. I have a full-face helmet and can run the cable through the opening. I don't trust the ones that only attach to the chin strap.
