I am not completely sure of the legality of the color change....but im sure the my modification isn't going to attract legal attention. As for safety, I'm sure there is some sort of argument to be made for yellow foglights being better for foggy situations.
I havent modified the headlight at...
Over the outside of the lens. It's a pretty thick film. I unbolted the fog lamp and turn signal, removed the bezel, folded back the rubber gasket like material that hides under the bezel, and applied the film. The film has two little tabs of excess material that I can only assume is for...
Applied a protective color film to my foglights. Looks awesome...but every step forward deserves a good step backwards. Discovered condensation in one of my turn signals when I was removing the light bezels.
Not sure how much of a difference I would see with a wider tire. The new Shinko SR999s seems to have a bit more of a taller center with a steeper falloff to the sides of the tire. My left to right lean transition in an S bend at least feels that way.
Tried to sneak a ride in between rain clouds...
Got the bike back from the shop yesterday evening.
I can not emphasize this enough....the front end of my bike is completely different because of this tire change to Shinko SR999s. I understand my front tire was at the end of its life, but I didn't expect this much of a difference. The "feel"...
Took mine to get a PA inspection and the new tires installed. I was looking for whitewall tires but I kept on running into little bs availability issues. Tires are on threads now so i didnt want to go far. Didnt want to ship the bike or remove the wheels myself. A popular and decent sized local...
The center line on the front is 1mm, maybe 2mm deep. The rear is pretty well smoked up the middle. It's not like I don't lean...the chicken strip are as thin as I can possibly make them. I've rubbed the engine guard in turns and my peg feelers are so far gone that I'm close to scraping away peg...
I'm kinda torn. I'm in the hills of Western PA and I ride a bit agressively. I'm not looking for the quietest or most compliant ride. I need something that can withstand a bit of abuse from heavy bike piloted by a giant manchild.
Took the bike into the shop for inspection. 4100mi and both tires are smoked. I'd blame myself if it was just the rear but the front is shot too.
I'm off on a tire search.
Rock everywhere except with my wife riding with. Roll and Rain really dials the throttle sensitivity down. Without the wife on back, speed limits are just suggestions.
I do. I don't mind my kind if odd riding position. Its not a HD Dyna with forward controls and I get that it's not going to be a rolling La-Z-Boy recliner....but why the hell am I stuck in a position more akin to Rodin's "The Thinker" sculpture.
If I could somehow build up the weekender or...
I did. The way the lever and shaft are splined and interlocked either made it too high or low with the floorboards.
It mostly comes down to how much I am bent at the knee and how far back my fee are because of the cylinder location relative to the foot controls when sittting on the bike. I sit...
Removed the BMW knockoff engine guard and installed the DK knockoff engine guard. Fitment was crooked. Tried to loosen up and move things around a bit but nothing really helped. Resorted to a bit of brute force and elbow grease to tweak the thing into place. The weld inside one of the tubes...
At 6'2", the biggest future purchase for me is looking to be a set of taller bars. I don't want apes, but I wouldn't mind something a bit taller like the Roctane bars. I pretty much just need less forward and outward reach and my upper-body comfort will be solved.
The seat is my biggest issue...
I guess this is the OEM engine guard Chinese knockoff. The threaded hole you bolt each half together with needed a tap run through the paint. It is also slightly uneven. You only really notice if you're actively trying to spot it. Not sure if I'm going to keep it or not. Seems sturdy enough to...
$90 dollar sissy bar from Amazon. After an extra $14 for four longer 8mm bolts, install went smooth-ish. Needed a second set of hands to help hold things for a minute. It was a couple mimimeters too snug to the fender. Had to kinda flex the tubing of the backrest out a bit to get it over the...
I did not install the servo buddies. I just put some electrical tape over the plugs and tucked them up and out of the way. I plan on getting the gs-911 tool sometime between now (2500mi) and 6000mi. Not too concerned about the soft codes the lack of servos cause. It takes 3 bolts and 10 minutes...
I guess you could say the flaps haven't been touched. I Just disconnected the servo electronic connectors, disconnected the wire assembly from the butterfly's cam, and verified the butterflies were in fact default open without the servos connected.
The exhaust was drilled from the very end of...
I drilled out the base of the muffler baffle tube and removed the exhaust servo. Demolished the two Diablo 1 3/8" hole saws in the process. If I could do it all over, I would have saved time and effort by just drilling a series of holes with a long 3/16"-3/8" drill bit and used a screwdriver to...
