    R18 as only bike?

It IS a do-it-all ride even if you have to install a windscreen and/or saddlebags. The stock seat isn't great, especially for passengers. But there are options out there for that issue. The suspension is good provided it's been setup for your weight. Most dealerships give no attention to the...

How would you describe the R18?

Funny you should mention wheelies. Just yesterday, while talking with a friend on the phone, he asked me if the R18 does good wheelies. I told him no. But I suppose if a rider were persistent enough, it should be possible to loft the front wheel. Sooner or later it's gonna happen and it'll...

    Accessories for the R18

I understand what you're saying Estoma. I never equated driving lamps each side of the headlight as an HD thing. I just think that the additional night time visibility would be good and I think that the added width at the headlamp area would compliment the width of the engine. I like most of the...

As a former cop, I can tell you that police radar AND laser measure speed using the doppler effect. Not by measuring distance traveled over time. But that IS how a GPS device measures speed. BOTH are extremely accurate and therefore are perfect comparisons to a speedometer's reading. I have...

How would you describe the R18?

The Nostalgia mufflers sure do look like they came right off of the R18. 🧐

How would you describe the R18?

That begs the question... what came first? The nostalgia customs or the R18?

    Torque Specifications - Still Searching

I did a search for the R18 OEM oil filter number and it matches the number listed in the Amazon listing, so it SHOULD be the right design. As for Amazon's vehicle-to-part recommendations, I've found it to be wrong almost as often as it's correct.

    Torque Specifications - Still Searching

I know that nothing starts contentious debates like topics of oil & filters... but are most of you on board with using the Mahle OC306 oil filter? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0068OBVN2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    IDLES LIKE CRAP IN ROCK

I suspect that BMW went with the irregular idle in Rock because the majority associate it as a "hot rod" trait. I kinda like it. It's quite similar to the idle that my Stage 3 Roadmaster exhibits. I can understand why a rider might prefer a smooth idle. We're all individuals here.

    turn signals

I've never heard of that issue. Sounds like a good reason to take a ride to your dealership and clue them in.

    Iconic Pictures with R18

I had to do a Google search to find out what you were referring to. I've never been a Simpsons fan, but now I get it. (y)

I agree that the R18 is just so beautiful, it's a shame to clutter it up with gadgets. But sometimes necessity is the mother f*cker of invention. I love "getting lost" in my new home state and Tomtom keeps me from staying lost. ;)

That 'Glide is sweet! All it "needs" are flex-pipe headers to complete the retro look. ;)

    Hexcode GS-911 Status on R18's

I appreciate the info GP and I'll take your advice when it comes time that I need it. In the mean time, I'm hoping that the folks who program the GS911 will do a proper update that allows it to reset service intervals. (y)

A year ago I moved from a big, expensive, overcrowded sand bar in NY to eastern TN. The roads here are fantastic and numerous. So I'm still learning where they are and where they go. I love getting on my R18 and wandering down roads that I have no idea where they'll take me. And when it's time...

    Hexcode GS-911 Status on R18's

Today I got an email from Brendan at TwistedThrotle.com. There may be a light at the end of the tunnel, but it won't be fast coming... "Brendan here from the Twisted Team. Sorry to leave you for so long without an update. I spoke with our Contact at Hex and they have not yet had the opportunity...
