If I had my time again re purchasing the R18 FE, I seriously don’t think I would!…..never mind having reverse or not.

Have spoken with the dealership, no loan bikes available! Trying to get a response from Bmw direct is like trying to get blood out of a stone….. Piss poor all round, one way or the other. :(

Update to this post for those that may be interested! Bmw have now confirmed I need a new L/H piston and rings…(1400mls) parts on order from Germany and once again I’m without my very expensive motorcycle and no courtesy bike offered. Disappointed.

Update for all re smoking L/H cylinder……Bmw Germany have told the dealer to replace the L/H piston complete with rings… Still waiting for the inner tube for the rear wheel puncture ( only been 10 days so far!)

Mines smoked badly a few times, no rhythm or reason to when it does it. I have started to keep the bike upright for a few minutes to allow the engine oil not to pool in the LH cylinder before I shut it down and place on the side stand. I have a video of the last time it happened and have passed...

Fully agree with all your observations R18C, I also have reservations with the information ( or lack of it!) provided by the dealer…unfortunately nothing changes, once you have signed on the dotted line its like getting blood out of a stone re obtaining information about the systems installed...

Just a thought….if your R18 FE is fitted with a OEM Stealth tracker, keep a close eye on the battery charge! The battery will struggle to hold charge for longer than two weeks, unless its put on a can-bus acceptable charger. I have had mine recently removed. Enjoy.
