I have gotten caught in the rain on some road trips, and I accept that for what it is. Riding in the rain isn't my favorite type of riding. If I plan a couple of hours of riding and it rains, I'll reschedule.

If there is any positive to this, it has created a substantial negotiation lever for purchasing a new bike, especially since there is not resolution date and it happened right on the back to the headlight recall.

BMW is no stranger to price gouging. They wanted almost $5k to replace the timing chain on my 3 series. I was researching prices on spare parts, and on several things I checked, BMW averaged about 5x the price for similar parts compared to Harley.

I'm not sure I'm buying that regarding the R18 considering you can physically feel it engage when you turn the lever. Also, what other reason would you need the lever if the button were just going to spin the starter motor in reverse?

The lever for reverse is definitely engaging a reverse gear. If it feels bound up, it probably needs the bike to rolled slightly to reposition the gears in the transmission. This is not completely uncommon of a manual transmission car. It occasionally happens on my 6 speed WRX. I don't think...

I know they have had multiple electrical issues on the 2024 Road and Street Glides. The new infotainment systems is really good on those bikes, but they don't seem to have the bugs worked out yet. I know of two different guys that had to have complete new wiring harnesses installed due to issues.

I'm not sure how it works in Australia, but why do you have to let BMW deactivate the reverse. Here in the US, you could just not take your bike into the dealership. There's no mechanism to force you to comply with the recall here.

Having been an engineer at two different German companies, I can definitively say that German equipment manufacturers, including the car/motorcycle companies don't like to admit when they've gotten something wrong. That typically turns into extended times for them to get design fixes...
