Take off the one that is left ... get it to a local machine shop and have them whittle one out for you? ... if indeed it is not gettable as stand alone part ... or if you are crafty ... make one yourself? ... just my 2¢

A load resistor would have worked as well ... but I like your version too ;). I use Kellerman 'Bullet 1000's' and they have just the right resistance not to trigger a fault ....

I don't think it is actually Wunderlich that is the issue .. I had a friend buy mine for me and then ship it to the states and he mentioned something that they told him the actual gauge manufacturer won't make them anymore ... I am glad I got mine when I did ;)

I only ride 1up and loosened my adjustment all the way ... that works for me ... and yes IMO the R18 is a bit stiffly sprung.

Well actually didn't do a thing other than think: "... you know .... sometimes it is just as good as it gets" looking out into the shop/garage ;) The 'Ol'Girl' doesn't run right now ... as you may notice I am working on the clutch ... but ... nevertheless ... it is as good as it gets at...

I agree on the 'Cruisetec' ... they rode well and felt good to a point ... and then wore really odd.

:ROFLMAO: !!! I agree! ... and lets face it ... If for noting else ;) just being able to turn on the 'Cruiser Light' function would be worth it ... but then there is sooo much more :D

Although I sure would love to meet up with another R18 or 2 in the wild ... 2900 miles (one way) ... a bit far for me ;)

Sorry folks .. reading through this is like comparing Apples to Pears ... some of you speak of reasonably charging'Indy' shops ... that is correct and also has been my experience, but there is no guarantee that BMW accepts their work as satisfactory for a warranty call, hell they won't even sell...

.... and yes, the R18 has a noisy valve train ... mostly because these are solid cam-followers .... noisy .... but with tappets pointing down in an angle, I see it difficult to engineer hydro tappets... but that is just me ;) P.S.: I don't mind the clattering :LOL:

It really depends on where they were set in the factory when the engine was put together ....not all of them are set 100% the same ... IMO .... anything @.02 to .03 mm is fine according to factory specs

Oooof ... IMO you could have spent that ... almost ... Grand ... on a nice HexCode 911 and a proper set of Metric hand tools and done that yourself using whatever good quality oil you want ... These bikes are engineered very solid ... there is a long heritage of boxer/shaft drive knowledge at...

My local dealer closed shop 9 months after selling me the bike (not unexpected ...so no blame here) now a shop visit is a 350 mile round trip ... hell no! ... and as per tools ... the only 'Specialty' tool that I bought so far is the GS-911 ... and that one is just worth every Penny (IMO) ...
