    Speaking about fuel.....

BMW says 90 AKI--anti knock index. But that might refer to the Euro index. Euro premium is 90-91 US mid-grade is 89-90 US premium is 92-93 I'll stick with US premium and with the dillution from the regular left in the hose it will still be at least 90 AKI.

    Speaking about fuel.....

Most gas pumps use a single hose for all the different grades of gas. My research says the first 1/3 to 1/2 gallon of gas is the grade bought by the previous customer at that pump. My fill ups usually takes just over 3 gallons so my premium fuel is diluted with regular by about 15%. Should we be...

    First Motorcycle Stories

Dad bought a 3HP mini-bike for me and my brother, I was 4. My grandfather bought a Vespa 90 from a friend of his for my 10th birthday. We went to take a look at it and before I knew it they had me on the Vespa ready to ride. Well this was way too big for me but I was ready to roll. Kick start...

    R18C as a first bike

Been riding over 60 years-I started riding at 4 years old on a 3HP minibike. My 2 cents worth, buy the R18 and be very cautious. I hear of a lot of motorcycle accidents where the rider went out and bought a brand new Harley for their first bike. There is no substitute for the experience gained...

    Rear suspension lifting products yet?

Makes sense, I guess that's possible too. My thinking is everything below the shock is pretty much unsprung weight so a longer shock or a shock extension would only raise the seat height of the bike and would not increase ground clearance.

    Rear suspension lifting products yet?

Raising the rear suspension would only raise the seat height not the ground clearance or peg-scraping clearance.

    Engine/crash bars

Thanks for the feedback. I just ordered a set through Amazon. A little over $250 but easily returned if I don't like it. I also priced the crash bars from DK, almost $800 with shipping..

    Engine/crash bars

Has anyone bought the Ebay engine guards? Good, bad, quality, fit, finish. Any feedback appreciated. I like the shape and curves much better than the BMW ones.

Anyone tried a Harbor Freight Bike Dolly for R 18 B?

Looks like the Condor dolly is sturdy but do you still have to back your bike off of it? That defeats the purpose of drive-on drive-off.

Anyone tried a Harbor Freight Bike Dolly for R 18 B?

I have Black Widow Aluminum Dolly I bought for my F6B. https://www.blackwidowpro.com/motorcycle/dollies/pro-aluminum/p/bw-pro-dolly/ My opinion--these dollies are more of a pain in the rear than anything else. Still very tough to move your bike around. Mine is standing up in the corner of the...

    Price check on aisle 5

My bike is not a demo, has the floorboards. Price is $14,995 plus $500 in BS fees and $500 in tax, title, tags. $16,010 OTD cash

    Price check on aisle 5

I paid cash so I didn't get the benefit of the 6 months payments. The dealer had their own discount plus the $3,000 BMW cash to arrive at their price. I could have financed it and also get the 6 months payments. Also, if you buy the First Edition, don't forget the FE gift box.

    R18 shifting concern

When I first got my bike and took it out for the first ride, the heel shifter was so high it was about a 45 degrees angle.

    R18 shifting concern

I have the floorboards also and have set the shifter and the heel shifter to be exactly in a straight line. This seems to work best for me. In the owners manual, it says it is not possible to upshift with the toe shifter if you have the floorboards.

Another new R18 Classic in Walnut Cove, NC

Picking it up today. Incredible deal on the demo Classic-first edition. After 30 years riding other big bikes, Goldwings, Stratoliner, M109, several Valkyries, F6B I'm really excited to spend some quality seat time. Anyone around central North Carolina?
