There is a guy in Colorado that's been doing Valkyrie exhaust mods for many years.

Maybe somebody near him could get in touch and see what he could do.
I replaced the floorboards with the Bagger pegs. It uses the same mount so nothing else was needed except the return spring and mounting pin.
Now I can easily toe or heel shift and I can move my feet around a lot more than with the floorboards.
My thoughts on breaking in, take it easy for an hour or so on a brand new bike then ride it like you'll always ride it. Get the first 600 mile service and never look back. Don't you think the demo bikes have been really ran pretty hard?
I had the same problem, size 12 US feet. I couldn't upshift with my toe. I replaced the floorboards on my Classic with the flat footpegs of the Bagger. It's a direct swap to the floorboard mounts. Cost less than $200, works much better for me and I can toe or heel shift. If you do this, also...
I like it a lot, wish it was about 1/2 inch shorter. I'm going to install the Memphis Shades fork lowers this weekend and this setup should be just about perfect, for me anyway.
Keeps the direct wind out of my face but there's still a lot of turbulence that comes from underneath. I've seen others have installed the fork mounted lowers from Memphis Shades with good results. May be my next step.
I'm thinking the same about the floorboards. I have ordered a set of the Bagger footpegs, I think they use the same mount as the floorboards.
The bagger pegs are wider than the round classics, kind of a mini floorboard. Ordered a few weeks ago but no update on delivery.
On my first fill-up, the fuel warning light came on at 142 and I was at 146 at the pump. I only squeezed in 3.2 gallons--45 MPG. This assumes the tank was full from the dealer.
I'm hard on the throttle most of the time.
