I will for súre thunder down one of the empty highways one day just to try and see how far the the needle on the speedometer climbs up.
I will trý install an app on the handy and gps the speed although the real top speed is not of much interest to me other than a nice to know.
What doés spark...
Yes, another one.
Yes, used the search engine.
As all I get are a older hence a new thread.
Flogging the bike down the local pass the speedometer read 195 km/h.
I know the speedomete by law reads fast with quite bit of margin to compensate for variables.
Also the bike is limited to 180 km/h...
Done mány exhaust modes over the half century of motorbikes (and cars) and times have changed A LOT is this aspect.
Population density, traffic density, social (in)tolerance, laws and BigBrother make for almost paranoia when on wheels compared to say the seventies/eighties.
Mind, here in...
Today again a sunny day sandwiched between some rainey ones so informed charming company thayt we were going for a spin after a bit earlier lunch.
Down to the coast for a quiet drink on the beach. Yes ´on´; there are still a féw chiringuitos actually on the sand.
The A356 is a smoothly swooping...
If anything it is nothing short of baffling that some manufacturers succeed in meeting modern norms with an air cooled engine. MG has been Piaggio owned for quite some time and their marketing probably identified that there is not enough base for a new air cooled engine. They probably...
Charming company does nót have osteoporosis. After 5 week cast was removed and X-ray showed a healed bone so a caution about putting weight on it was given but that´s it.
Yesterday we went for a ride on the R18.
I needed to readjust to the weight of the thing more than charming to being the...
again that náme...
Makes me think of the random english word generator the japanese used to brand their JDM products.
The ´matt´ fashion is surprisingly resilliant btw.
Between on/off rainy days and charming having broken a leg, not used the R!8 😥
Lots of time to read so dug out all my docs on sidecars ánd scoured the web: One hás to love these crazy things. If anything it is amazing that in these times of Big Brother imposing nanny states they still are...
Beejeezus how dó they come up with that?!
Doubt though it is called like that for the EU. More likely ´satin titan´.
Congrats btw.
Where have you parked it? Somewhere you can see and enjoy it over the winter?
On a side note, the key off current is deceptive and will drain the battery. Sign...
As I observed in a different thread, the ´Made in ---´ was a bone of contention because most of the R18 is outsourced and made elsewhere p.e. Austria and Italy. ´Since 1923´ reads beter than ´Assembled in Berlin´.
Hmmm... the ´arguably´ makes me curious to which arguments.
Afaik they had two minor tweaks during ´20 production one of which was triggered by the cruise control/steering damper combination.
Then two issues; the reverse gear and adaptive headlight which had retro fit solutions to all.
As to...
Have a very good look at all of the damage. It is very unlikely that the handlebars and such have nothing etc.
Replacing bits is going to add up astonishingly fast and make the bike an economical write off.
S long as it is sáfe this does not need to be a bad thing if you are ok with some scratch...
To mé the current reports from various sides indicate that BMW is running the model range out.
Still peddling ´23 models in one country, no longer importing in the next and limited model range in another.
As I observed; a niche model in a sharply declining market. We are ever só lucky that BMW...
It is not rocket science is it?
The R18 is a very extreme motor and not only off the BMW road, it also is in the USA big twin field.
It was nevvah evvah going to be a sales charts topper. If anything the initial wave of pensioners buying a nostalgic dream was surprising.
Same thing the decline...
Seems many a member´s interest is sparked by an air tag.
I have yet to see one. Had to look up what it is. No desire to see the first ;)
On the practical side I think the R18 is too lardy, too rare and not enough profitable to steal.
Yes, but bear in my mind that there is lower gear mountain riding included as well.
I find the economy quite good for such a large capacity heavy bike two up with the aerodynamics of a garden shed.
