heal toe shifter for base R18

I added the spacer on the rear shift peg so I could find it with my size 10.5 boots. You may want to consider something like this.

heal toe shifter for base R18

I'm keeping all the parts together as a kit in case someone wants all the pieces or I decide to go back to foot boards. Thanks anyway. You can always buy the heel shifter from a BMW dealer. The shifter parts I had to order from BMW only took about 5 weeks.

heal toe shifter for base R18

My R18C came with foot boards and heel & toe shifters. The heel shift peg was so small I missed it most of the time. I converted to foot pegs and a toe shifter only and am much happier.

    Cost of first service

I have a similar issue with the gear indicator. If I move the bike an inch or two the gear indicator lights up.

What did you do to your R18 today?

What's the little shelf on the cylinder head? A foot rest? A bumper? Where did it come from?

    New r18 b rider

Maneuvering a heavy bike can be nerve wracking. The best I can give you is don't look down, look where you are going and feather the clutch so you can keep your speed up. There are lots of You Tube video on this exact topic.

    Extended footpeg?

I have an extra 2 3/4" long BMW peg. It fits the standard shift lever. I'm not sure how it would fit the shift level that comes with the foot boards. Let me know if you're interested.

I modified mine with a spacer and a longer bolt for less than $10.00.

    Minutiae

The best I can tell from the BMW parts drawing is you need part number 31 42 9 899 220. It's called a cap and they are $80.00 each.

    Minutiae

Thanks for the detailed answer. It looks like I'll be taking a portable GPS on my next ride to verify the speedo. I checked the parts microfiche for some pop in plugs and came up empty. The "crater" on my bike is V shaped and there doesn't appear to be any attachment point. I'd love to find...

    Minutiae

I passed one of those roadside speed radar devices that showed my speed was 52mph. My speedo showed 58mph. Is it possible my speedo is 6mph off? I removed the windshield from my classic. I prefer to ride without it unless the weather looks bad. There are two large “craters” on top of the fork...

    Toolkit

I think the wrench is supposed to attach just below the handle and red battery terminal. My wrench it too long to fit between the posts.

    WTB Heel Shifter

I bought a chrome spacer with an ID of 5/16 and OD of 5/8. I got a longer screw from the local hardware store. It works well for now. Cost was around $6.00.

WTT stock floorboards for my stock pegs

I already replaced the foot boards on my Classic with pegs and all the necessary auxiliary pieces. I have a complete kit to put foot boards on a bike delivered with pegs. Unfortunately, the MSRP of these parts from Max BMW is $2178.38. If you are interested in this kit I will sell for 50% of...

    Smoke on start up

Some older model BMWs, if parked on the side stand on some ground leaning left oil would seep into the cylinder and smoke upon startup. Is there any chance you parked on some ground with a left lean?

WTB shift lever and peg from foot peg bike

I've already removed the foot boards, foot board brackets, foot board specific brake lever and pedal and foot board specific side stand. I replaced these items with foot pegs etc. I just need the foot peg style shift lever and peg.

WTB shift lever and peg from foot peg bike

I'd like to buy a shift lever and peg from a bike originally equipped with foot pegs, not foot boards. Does anyone have one they want to sell?

    Oil under bike!

I figured it was something overflowing or too much oil was added somewhere. If it continues, I'll look deeper into it.
