I had a friend who, after we had a conversation that made it plain that we didn't share the same point of view, would say, "Yeah. Well... that's just YOUR opinion!" To that I usually replied, "What else am I supposed to give... YOUR opinion? HAH!"

What did you do to your R18 today?

Let's hope that the seat upgrade shows up at the same time as the bike. My Weekender came almost 2 months after the bike. In that case, you might want to hold off sending the OEM seat to Russel.

For Those Who Do Their Own Service Work (Including the Running-in Check)

Even though the GS-911 doesn't have R18 specific firmware, mine has already informed me why there is a lighting system fault shown every time I start the bike. All of the lights work normally at the front end and including the rear signals, as tail lights and brake lights. BUT, I'd forgotten...

What did you do to your R18 today?

Yesterday was my birthday, so the woman of my dreams gave me the Roland Sands Design replacement Rocker Covers that have been carefully hidden in plain sight for the past month. And this morning I got a call from Pandora European Motorsports in Chattanooga, informing me that the Weekender Seat...

    $2000 rebate.

Go for it, Dave! I'll bet that you will love the R18. I wonder if that $2K has any strings attached. Will it allow the same rebate if a rider brings in an old, ragged KZ400 or CB175? If so, then a prospective buyer who hasn't got a beater to trade in would be well advised to go buy something...

ABSOLUTELY! I would just like to hear that my engine is running. Not to be deafened by it. Man! I hate that ignorant old crap about loud pipes saving lives.

OUCH! I would hate to be at the mercy of a cop with a sound meter. It's so easy to alter the reading with minor changes in position. The American Motorcyclist Association tried to establish a uniform method of measuring the sound pressure of an exhaust system years ago, so that police and racing...

    Reverse shift lever mod?

Yes. The Ducati has a dry clutch. A single plate dry clutch, much like an automotive dry clutch. VERY different from a Duck and the reason that it doesn't rattle. Yes. I owned a Ducati 900 SS/SP. See below, which shows TWO bikes with dry clutches. Vented dry clutches toss their particles all...

What did you do to your R18 today?

Very cool. And it's nice looking too. And THIS MORNING (3/31/21) I got a call, only about 10 minutes ago... my "Weekender" seat has arrived at the dealership in Chattanooga. Hot damn! And just a day after my 66th birthday. :) Finally my bride will be riding behind me on the R18.

For Those Who Do Their Own Service Work (Including the Running-in Check)

If you don't yet have a GS-911 (USB OBD-II), they are still $300 on Amazon. That's $100 off of the typical retail price. I got mine a few days ago and it's GREAT! https://www.amazon.com/GS-911-OBD-II-Enthusiast-Version-2017/dp/B0799CYBLL/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=gs-911&qid=1617201516&sr=8-4

    Kellermann Blinkers/Break Lights

The PDM-60 and Hex ezCAN both look very interesting for wiring in non-OEM components. I'll be watching to see if ezCAN comes out with an R18 specific device. And I'm going to keep them in mind for future projects as they may come up. But the R18 may pose a bit of a challenge for either in that...

Are you folks in Europe even allowed to swap the exhaust to something from the aftermarket? In 20 years of traveling to the Geneva area, virtually every bike that I saw had stock exhaust.

    DK Designs Crash Bar Installation

If you don't NEED it to be Torx, how about this? https://www.mcmaster.com/91292A670/?SrchEntryWebPart_InpBox=screws You might want to add washers, to spread the load. https://www.mcmaster.com/washers/for-screw-size~m12/material~stainless-steel/washer-type~flat/?SrchEntryWebPart_InpBox=screws

I agree with all that you've posted. Gutting or removing the "cats" would probably not result in a big performance gain and I'd bet a bunch of $$$ that the bike's "computer" would have a fit. But, while I like a quiet bike, I would like to hear something back there. The darned exhaust note is so...

    Kellermann Blinkers/Break Lights

You'd use the Ohm meter to measure across the positive & negative connections of the OEM and new parts. If the new parts have a higher impedance then you need to add the resister in parallel to the light's ground & power and if it's lower than the OEM part, you would install it in series to the...

    Reverse shift lever mod?

Sure. I even owned one once. And, you're right. I forgot about their dry clutches.

    Kellermann Blinkers/Break Lights

Often the CAN BUS system "sees" alternative devices and makes a fault code because the impedance is different from the OEM part. Sometimes you can "fool" the system into thinking everything is cool by restoring the impedance value. Measure the impedance of the OEM and new devices. You may be...

WOW! You really liked the Bridgestones.

    DK Designs Front Fender Video

I might have to pull the rip cord and get a DK Design fender soon. I'm getting tired of cleaning the front of my R18 after every ride. The stock fender lets too much crud go flying back toward the engine and up, past the fender tip. Then the airborn crud gets caught by the forks, headlight, etc...
